History of the Harrisons   in Australia

The Harrisons were brought intoAustralia early in the 1900's,about 1906 to 1912.

Harrisons were originally imported from England by a Max Foy of Sydney Australia who did extremelly well with these birds he originally purchased the whole lot from a George Harrison in England.

He wrote about these birds he had imported in the Australian Pigeon Keeper of 13th May 1927. Harrisons imported by Max Foy "Sensational" blue cheq hen,"Sudden Death" Blue cheq cock "Lloyd George" Blue Bar Cock. These three pure birds were all brother and sister. He wanted a cross into the strain so that he could quote "fix the type" so he purchased a blue white throat cock from Mons Nierre Vanderhaegen, the Mayor of Belgium. This bird had great perforomances behind him and had flown spain he was 15th/16th Grooters (of claes) and 1/16th Wegge, but he stated in this article that he was pure Grooters.

Max Foy then heard about a a great performing bird "Alfonso"bred by a Mr Burton this bird was a four times winner at 500 miles and topped off his performance winning a 700 Mile race from Spain. He than visited the loft where this bird originated from, it was the lofts of Mr. Burton he saw that these birds were all as good as the original "Alfonso" so he then paid Mr Burton Double catalogue price for the two grandchildren most resembling "Alfonso" he states that they were not pures but the next best thing.

He then crossed Harrison Grooter Harrison,Harrison Burton Harrison they are the original Harrisons in Australia.

Max Foy made a point of giving alot of these birds away, he states that he gave the birds away to make them popular in this country, soon they were in every state in Australia.

I think he accomplished this feat very well. We can quite confidentally say that Harrisons are in most lofts in this country, and have proven themselves for many years, and will continue to prove themselves for many years to come.
