Three matches and three massive losses for England. The Ashes 2021-22 is done and dusted as Australia has an insurmountable 3-0 lead after three matches. The pain of losing to India at home just about a year back has been replaced by Ashes glory and Pat Cummins is the new poster child of Australian cricket.
Things can change quickly but at the moment, all the momentum is with Australia and England is staring down the barrel. All the cricket betting sites are offering some truly astronomical odds on an England victory. To add to the intrigue, there is a lot of rain predicted in Sydney during this week and so the draw is a very real possibility.
Let us take a closer look and try to find some value in the betting markets for the third Ashes Test.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Australia vs England 3rd Ashes Test 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney starting on the 5th of January 2022.
Australia has been hit by a COVID outbreak and so it is going to be without Travis Head in this match. That will mean at least one change in the lineup for sure. It will be interesting to see if Hazelwood makes a comeback into the team or if the selectors stick with Scott Bolan who was the man of the match in his debut test.
Australia’s bowling has been far superior to England and it really may not matter who they pick in the final eleven. Pat Cummins seems to be the bowler who picks the big wickets all the time but it is Starc who has the most number of wickets so far.
Nathan Lyon has also been doing very well and has 12 wickets to his name. With the Sydney wickets expected to help the spinners, the odds on him to be the Top Bowler for Australia are a bit short.
However, we have to consider that there may be some rain around and that may not allow the wicket to deteriorate as much. We think sticking to one of Pat Cummins or Mitchell Starc as the top bowler for this match is a good idea.
Among the batsmen, the two obvious choices to back in this match are David Warner and Steve Smith. Both of them have a great record at Sydney and almost always seem to score runs here. David Warner has scored 240 runs with two 90 plus scores. We think he is a good option to back to get a fifty-plus score or even be the Top Batsman for Australia in this match.
Also, Steve Smith has been struggling for runs but do you really want to bet against him in this match? Look for Over/Under bets on Steve Smith’s Total Runs and bet on the ‘Over’.
David Warner, Marcus Harris, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Michael Lyon.
England has had a very poor year in Test Cricket in 2021 and will be hoping to turn things around in the New Year. It is not an easy task and we don’t think England is going to be able to do it. The problems are deep-rooted and there is just no easy fix.
Joe Root and Dawid Malan have been the only two batsmen that have put up a fight. They are the two with the most runs, the only two that have scored a fifty-plus score in Ashes 2021-22, and the only two that have put up a real fight.
However, neither of them has been able to cross into double figures so far either.
At this point in time, it is just smarter to bet against the England batting lineup at all possible times. Look for Over/Under markets for their batsmen and back the ‘Under’. You can also bet against anyone from the team to score a century in the inning.
England’s bowling had a few encouraging moments in the previous match but as a whole, there is no doubt that the bowlers have struggled in Australia.
Ollie Robinson has the most number of wickets but it is James Anderson with seven wickets from just three innings who is the most effective bowler. He is the obvious choice for the Top Bowler England betting markets and we certainly think you should consider that.
The conditions in Sydney are a bit tough for medium pacers and so the odds on Mark Wood, the only genuine fast-bowler in the lineup, may be worth considering as well.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

The weather forecast for this match is not very good and we have a feeling that we are going to be in for a lot of stoppages. Heavy rain is forecast on the first three days of the Test and there is also some rain on the remaining two days of the match.
The surface in Sydney is generally flat, a bit abrasive, and tends to turn as the match goes on. We may not have enough time to be able to actually see the changes in the surface this time around, though.

We are going to bet on the Draw in this match. The reason for this is two-fold. The first is that the rain is going to take away huge chunks of time from the game. The second is the nature of the surface that can make taking wickets quickly a challenge, especially for the first couple of days of the match.
The risk here is that England may not be good enough to put up a fight for the two or two and a half days of play expected. Still, the odds available on the draw make it worth your while.
Bet on the Draw.
Warner has been in terrific form and loves batting in Sydney. The English bowlers are gong to challenge him with the new ball but if gets through, he could score a big one.
Crawley is a veryv talented batsman that has been in and out of the England team during the course of his young career. We rate him quite highly and think he possesses the skills to succeed against this strong Australian attack. The Over/under line looks quite enticing and we are going to bet on the 'Over.
