The Syethiss Embassy

The embassy has six members: Theril, the priest who is leading it, Chetal, the Scout Pelin, and four guards, taken off temple duty and seconded to Chetal for the purposes of the embassy. Its instructions are to make peaceful contact with the magi, and to agree limits which, for the moment will keep the magi out of the main Syethiss chambers. This is a compromise agreement, which Pokerris was able to get by pointing out that the magi were certainly aware of their existence now, and would soon come looking if they weren't met first.

Theril

Theril's crest is a deep violet, with seven bones holding it in place. It contains no vis, however, as he is not that magical. He can Hex people by staring at them, and thus is regarded as extremely useful as a guard of the Temple. However, Theril has more interest in the outside world than just about any other Syethiss, and he is angling to lead the contact faction when Pokerris dies. That is why he is leading this embassy. He is desperate for it to go well, as far as setting up good relations with the magi is concerned, and he may even make concessions that he shouldn't in an attempt to attain this aim. He normally speaks at a measured pace, carefully weighing his words before replying, but he can get carried away, especially when asking questions about the outside world. No Syethiss has ever been even as far as Gunnerside, so their knowledge of the outside world is very poor. (Hex total +8, use Hunter stats without weapon skill.)

Chetal

Chetal is a skilled fighter and a good leader, and will probably be the next Nenelik, as she is only 13. Her years of guarding the tunnels have led to a suspicion of, and a curiosity about, the outside world. Thus, she is pulled both ways. She will display her displeasure if Theril makes too many concessions, but she will not do anything to actually disrupt the negotiations. If limits are set, she will make it clear that they will be enforced. As a Pelin, she can make suggestions to Theril, even though he is a priest, and since she has the backing of the other priests for keeping the concessions down, she will probably do so if it becomes necessary.

The Guards

Normal guards, they will not say anything on this visit. Their names are Letanic, Pirissin, Chiterr, and Forett. They will remember the experience, and may well have further contact with the characters later. Use normal Guard stats if necessary.
