The Investigators

The group from Domus Doctrinae consists of Ipperrian, the Bonisagus and leader of the group, Chrysippus, the Bonisagus who is Colette's friend, Hild, a grog leader and scout consors, and six grogs, Richard, Stephen, Simon, Henry, Maud, and Frederick. They have brought tents and things with them, as they intend to camp closer to the site of Fulmen Candidum than the covenant, although they will visit there to start with.

Ipperrian announces that he intends to investigate the anomaly alone, but he can be persuaded to let Matthew come along. Chrysippus will go along as part of the group, and to help defend him. Chrysippus will want to catch up with Colette, and will go into ecstasies about the library at Domus Doctrinae.

The first week of investigation passes uneventfully. Ipperrian determines that there is a fluctuating magical aura, that he can't get spells through it, and that something interesting happened. He then tries to enter, to find out more, and that's when it goes wrong.

No spells will affect him, and he attacks any who enter the aura, accusing them of being demons. He attacks random bits of empty space as well, accusing them of being demons who should be under his control. If Matthew is there, he will try to get help, and if he doesn't, Chrysippus will go for Colette. Enchanting Music will get him out. The difficulty is 9, but it is an extended action, needing twenty points to succeed. Each failure subtracts the difference from the total. Since she is on +5 or +6, failures will be rare. Maybe up the difficulty to 12. Stamina roll every period, with failure meaning loss of a level. No, difficulty 9 is sufficient there. A botch means that she has to start again, with a higher difficulty. It takes half an hour to perform each sing, hence the stamina requirement. After 36 hours wandering, one of his demons offers Ipperrian a way out in return for his soul. He accepts.

When Ipperrian gets out, the first thing he does is return to Antrum, and rest. He then talks to the Concilium. He will recommend that the investigation be left to those magi on the scene, since it is obviously not a simple affair. He will deliver this report at the next Tribunal, thus giving Antrum a good chance to investigate for themselves. If Colette got him out, he will also express gratitude, and say that he would be willing to negotiate with his sodales for trades from the covenant library at Domus Doctrinae.
