Chapter 5: Idealism and Spirituality
Composite Neptune in the Ninth House
Neptune in the ninth house of the composite chart signifies that this relationship is enormously concerned with ideals. This house relates to your overall philosophy of life and the mental structure through which you interpret the world. Neptune here
gives this whole area a mystical and religious flavor, or at least a fondness for delving into psychic or spiritual matters.
It is also possible that the ninth house signifies that your ways of thinking about the world are confused by this relationship. There is a danger that you could be looking at the world either through rose-colored glasses or, quite the reverse, from a needlessly pessimistic point of view. Either way, the ninth house indicates that the two of you are dealing with the world in a way that is not entirely realistic, and therefore leaves you open to disappointment.
Composite Neptune Trine Ascendant
The trine of composite Neptune and Ascendant indicates a relationship in which idealistic and spiritual elements are very strong.
If you are a man and woman, this aspect may be a sign of a platonic relationship. Even if your relationship is not platonic, there will still be a strong spiritual emphasis. This relationship may stimulate interest in occult and metaphysical studies.
In a love relationship there is often a strong tendency toward excessive romanticism. You both may idealize the relationship and each other to a degree beyond all reason. Be very careful of this, and make sure that you are relating to your real partner and not to some illusion you have created.
In general, this aspect can make a relationship quite beautiful, although not totally realistic. Strive to emphasize the beautiful without being carried away by your own idealism.
Composite Sun Square Neptune
Be extremely careful with a relationship that has the square of Sun and Neptune in the composite chart. This aspect implies that the relationship tends to be unrealistic and impractical. In particular there is a danger that one of you will deceive the other, which
could result in disappointment and disillusionment when this is revealed. No matter how beautiful the relationship seems at the beginning, there is a real possibility that it will end with a major let-down.
This aspect can mean that both of you are very unclear about what you are doing with your lives, not only together but as individuals.
A relationship with this aspect could possibly have a solid basis and a strong sense of spiritual union. That is the goal toward which you should strive, but first make sure it is a realistic possibility.
Composite Venus Sextile Neptune
Like all composite Venus-Neptune aspects, the sextile increases the idealistic and romantic tendencies of a relationship. A friendship becomes more than an ordinary encounter, for each of you idealizes the other in some almost magical way. In fact, this aspect favors friendship more than a love affair, because like the other Venus-Neptune combinations, it inclines toward a nonsexual relationship.
Nevertheless, this aspect does not mean that a would-be sexual relationship will be unsuccessful. It simply means that it will have a strongly spiritual tone in addition to its sexual and physical dimensions.
It should open your eyes to the sublime aspects of the world around you and make you more receptive to beauty. At its best, this can be a bond between true soul-mates who are matched spiritually as well as physically.
Composite Mars Conjunct Neptune
The conjunction of Mars and Neptune in a composite chart is not an easy aspect, for it signifies the union of two planetary forces that are not readily combined.
The problem is that on the level of mundane reality, where most of us operate most of the time, Neptune is confusing, weakening, and debilitating.
Often this aspect creates a relationship in which you both feel inferior, unsuccessful, and debilitated. You may feel that as individuals you are becoming weaker than you were before. One of you may become so weak as to be totally dependent on the other.
On a higher plane, however, Neptune brings spiritual self-awareness. This planet is quite destructive to ordinary awareness, but if the two of you can go beyond your attachment to the everyday world and receive Neptune's message, you may discover a whole new way of dealing with the world. You must be in a state of consciousness in which you can detach yourself from your ego-drives in dealing with each other.
Composite Jupiter Sextile Neptune:
As a couple you will be known for your generosity, charity,
and good will. You expect and see the best in each other, and in
the world, which infuses your relationship with hope and a
belief in a better tomorrow.
Religious, humanitarian, or service-oriented work are
favored. Numerous blessings of a spiritual as well as a material
nature will come into your lives via your relationship with one
another, especially if you remember to "Seek ye first the
Kingdom..."
Composite Saturn Opposition Neptune
The opposition of composite Saturn and Neptune suggests that the two of you have rather incompatible ideals. The danger is that you will systematically weaken each other's self-confidence to the point where both of you will be less capable of handling the world than you were before.
You both must learn to recognize that you are probably making your relationship seem worse than it is. Be very careful not to make mountains out of molehills and exaggerate problems out of all proportion. This is one of the chief dangers of the
aspect.
At the same time, it is necessary to play very straight with each other. Otherwise, every time you discover that your partner has deceived or lied to you, your relationship will become weaker and weaker until there is nothing left except suspicion.
Chapter 6: Intensity and Transformation.
Composite Pluto in the Seventh House
Composite Pluto in the seventh house can have two quite opposite effects. On the one hand it can signify that the two of you work very hard to create a viable relationship. You recognize that this relationship is having a great impact on both of you, and you experience it as a way of gaining a new, regenerated life. This can be expected if your relationship is otherwise quite good.
If there is a great deal of stress, however, a quite different effect will emerge. In this case each of you will continually try to dominate the other: in other words, a power struggle. If one of you wins this struggle, the other will feel extremely stifled, which will probably lead to further trouble.
Most couples experience a mixture of good and bad effects from a seventh-house Pluto. If you wish to keep this relationship going, continue working together for growth and development. And try to lower the pressure.
Composite Venus Trine Pluto
Like all composite Venus-Pluto aspects, the trine produces extremely intense feelings in any kind of relationship. But with this aspect it is perhaps easier to control the energies and still keep the strong points of such a relationship.
In a love relationship between the sexes, you will find it easy to demonstrate your feelings for each other. You will enjoy loving and being loved. The experience
will transform you and make your world and your perception of it into something new.
With a Venus-Pluto trine, love has an almost psychotherapeutic effect on you both. Even a friendship with this aspect has a transforming quality.
Sexual love is very important in this relationship. In a marriage, children may assume a greater than usual significance. They are seen as a tie to the future,
which somehow ensures that the two of you will never die.
The Venus-Pluto trine confers an intense quality that can bind two people together and give the relationship more than ordinary importance.
Composite Mars Sextile Pluto
The sextile of composite Pluto and Mars gives the two of you the potential for transforming yourselves through the relationship you create. You will arouse
each other's sense of will and purpose in a complementary rather than a competitive way, and this will allow you to express your powers as individuals without getting in each other's way.
While this aspect furthers your individual ego-expression, it also allows you to cooperate in gaining whatever you wish to gain together. You are able to work hard together, for you call forth energies in each other that you may not have known you had.
The greatest task that you face together may be the creative transformation of yourselves. But you will bring the same creative energies to this project that
you bring to any other, thereby ensuring that this relationship will be profitable to both of you in many ways.
Composite Saturn Trine Pluto:
Together you are capable of extreme dedication,
concentration, and self-denial for the sake of a mutual goal.
There is an obsessive, unrelenting quality to this. Certainly
when the two of you combine forces to accomplish something, you
are a formidable team capable of enduring and going the
distance. You won't collapse under pressure or shirk the
necessary hardships.
However, you can be excessively one-sided, or may
needlessly deny yourselves certain pleasures which you may
consider distractions or a frivolous waste of energy. There may
be a subtle tyranny going on, either towards yourselves, or one
another. Unless you supply some gentleness and adaptability,
what you achieve together in concrete terms may come at too dear
