Viet Nam has a great potential for ecological tourism because of the Annamite
Chain?s spectacular
vistas and the tropical forests and exotic animals. The greatest tourist
attractions are in Hanoi for not
only is it the capital it has many other attractions. To a lesser degree
Ho Chi Minh City would also
be an excellent choice to view Vietnamese culture. The currency in Viet Nam
is called the Dong.
The Dong comes in bank notes in the sizes of 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000,
10 000, 20 000, and
50 000. The value of the Dong in comparison to the American dollar has been
plummeting. In 1989
one United States of America dollar was worth 3500 Dong, and in 1995 on American
Dollar was
worth 11 000 Dong. The only places that a tourist can exchange travelers
checks or use credit
cards are in major cities. Contrary to Cambodia, it is better to use Dong
to pay your bills instead of
small denominations of American money.
