Day to day itinerary
14 days / 13 nights tour - 2800 kilometres

Days 1-2 (Jomtien Beach )

Your fellow travellers will be arriving at all times from around the world today, so there are no arranged activities for the daytime. Our taxi driver will pick you up at Bangkok Airport. We will hold a meeting in the evening when everyone arrives. You will get a note at reception explaining this. In the morning of Day 2 we recommend you to relax at the pool or the sand beach opposite the hotel to get rid of jet-lag. Later you can do some shopping particularly items you might need on the tour. After lunch motorcycles will be delivered - so you can go for an afternoon ride and pack your things into panniers.

Days 3-4 (Rainforests of Khao Yai and hills of Wichian Buri and Petchabun)

Your suitcases with items not needed will be deposited at the hotel. After the breakfast we shall ride up the winding road to the Khao Yai mountain range (1000-1300 meters above sea). There we shall walk through the jungles of this world's No 7 national park. There will be a good chance to see monkeys, hornbills and gaur, less chance to see wild elephants or tigers. You can refresh under the waterfalls (the jump in The Beach - movie). Around sunset we shall arrive at Pak Chong (hotel). Some will stretch in the hotel's pool or on the driving range and after go downtown to taste local delicacies (and drinks) at the night market. In the morning of Day 4 we shall ride across the plains with picturesque villages to the hills of Wichian Buri (dairy farming region) where we shall visit ancient Khmer temples of Sri Thep historic park. We shall arrive at Petchabun (hotel) at about 4 p.m. which will give you plenty of time to get rid of back pain either in the hotel pool or with Thai massage. Barbequed prawns and fish wrapped in aluminium-foil are local delicacies.

Days 5-6 (Thung Salaeng Luang national park, ancient temples of Sukhothai and Chiang Mai )

Leaving Petchabun behind we shall climb steep up (hundreds of bends) to Khao Kho mountain which was a stronghold of Thai communists for decades and even up to recently the police and army were afraid to go this area. The scenery becomes more lush and the temperature cooler as we climb into the hills of Thung Salaeng Luang national park where we will ride for on the mountain high plateau for 100 kilometres. From there the road winds downhill to central plains and emerald green rice paddies around Sukhothai (hotel) where we shall arrive around 5 p.m.. After the breakfast on Day 6 we shall rent bicycles and ride several kilometres around the ancient temples of World Heritage site - Sukhothai historic park. After we have a good ride ahead - including the "1000 bends road" to the medieval Lanna Thai capital Chiang Mai (hotel) . In the evening you can do your shopping in the vibrant and colourful Night Bazaar as the sun dips behind the mountains (we shaill help parcel post any items purchased to your base hotel - postal service is very cheap and reliable in Thailand). Late in the evening you can enjoy an old traditional Thai dance show.

Days 7-8 (Chiang Mai, Doi Suthep, elephants and Chiang Rai )

In the morning we shall take a short ride to the top of Doi Suthep mountain (panoramic views) to visit Golden Temple, The Royal palace and a hill tribe village further up on Doi Pui mountain. In the afternoon you can relax in the silence of Buddhist temples, do more sightseeing, just swim in hotel pool or do some more shopping ( magnificent silk and cotton weavings, handicrafts ...) On Day 8 our way will wind through mountains from Chiang Mai to Chiang Mai. Scenery is magnificent and air crisp clean. We shall stop at elephant training centre on the way. Late in the afternoon we arrive at Chiang Rai (hotel). At night bazaar you can have a good and inexpensive meal while watching the dance show.

Days 9 -10 (Chiang Rai, Burma, Golden Triangle and Laos)

Today we travel to the Centre of Golden Triangle where Ruak river flows into Mekong and three borders meet. On the way we will ride over some of the highest mountains in Thailand and stop at hill tribe villages along the Thai-Burmese border. You can walk across (no visa required for a two hours visit) to town Tacilek, where there is also an opportunity to purchase a wide range of goods. In the early afternoon at the Golden Triangle itself we shall board long-tail boats that will take us up the stream along Laos-Burmese border for sightseeing. We shall stop in Laos for couple of hours (no visa required) just to get a feeling of different language, customs, food, exotic drinks -  "medicine"... Riding back we shall stop at Chiang Saen - an important port for goods from Chinese Yunan province only 60 km away. We shall return to our hotel in Chiang Rai at about 5 pm. On Day 10 we shall leave the Golden Triangle and ride south through mountains to Kamphaeng Phet (hotel) This is a long ride - 450 kilometers but very pleasant because there is hardly any traffic on the highway. On the way we shall stop at Phayao lake and Buddhist shrine on dramatic Chao Pho Pratu Pha mountain pass where there are also prehistoric mural paintings. The Night market in Kamphaeng Phet is a culinary experience.

Days 11 and 12 (Kanchanaburi (River Kwai Bridge and WW2 railway)

Today we have another long but scenic ride (340 kilometers). We shall ride through picturesque villages and across the farming lands along the Western jungle that is SE Asia biggest jungle stretching far into Burma. We shall arrive at Kanchanaburi in the late afternoon (hotel). A dinner on one of the River Kwai rafts-restaurants is an event that is not forgotten easily. On Day 12 you will have a choice to travel by train on Death Railway starting at River Kwai bridge, or take a motorcycle ride with tour leader to 100 kilometers long Srinakarin lake, Hell Fire Pass, Sayoke waterfall and Crasae viaducts on the railway. We shall also stop at the famous temple where orphaned tigers (and now their offspring)  are well taken care off by monks and can walk free.

Day 13 and 14 ( Bangkok and Jomtien)

Departing Kanchanaburi, we shall ride in direction of Bangkok. We shall avoid the center's heavy traffic by taking a ferry across Praya river in the suburbs of Bangkok and ride along the shore of Eastern Seaboard. Before Bangkok we are going to stop at Damnoen Saduak floating market. The afternoon brings us back to our base hotel on Jomtien Beach. Usually the group has a last farewell dinner or some drinks this evening. On Day 14  your motorcycle touring holiday ends. You will receive a DVD with photos and video clips of your escapades during the tour before our taxi picks you up. The time will be arranged depending on your flight departure. The ride from the hotel at Jomtien Beach to the airport takes about one hour. We recommend to book an evening/night flight, giving you an extra day at the end of your holiday.
