Laffingstock is most definitely not the first band I've ever been in.  I'll just list the others for you.
1) Direct
This is the first band I was in.    It was originally composed of me trying to sing, Brandon on the Bass, Nathan and Ian on the guitars, and Nick on the drums.  Eventually, we realized that Ian and Nathan weren't going to work out as they never had time to practice.  So Brandon moved to lead guitar, I went to rhythm guitar and kept singing.  We brought in Mikey Collard on the bass.  That was fun for a while, but I kinda got the boot because I was a control-freak and wanted everything to be exactly I said.  Besides that, punk rock isn't really Mikey's style.  The band more or less lasted from October of 1996 until about September of 1997.

2) Direct (again)
This time, it was Me, Nick, Brandon, and Hunter on the bass.  This was something that we did like three times.  Fun, but again, my stupidity cost me my position.

3) Liberals in Tuxedos
This is the most musically diverse band I've ever been in.  These guys actually wanted to play more than
just punk rock.  We played some funk, and some punk, and some ska, and some weird stuff that doesn't really have a category.  It was me on lead vocals, Brandon's bro Ryan on the bass, Doug (a friend of Ryan) on the guitar, Brandon on lead guitar, and Mike Cox, my jazz    band drummer, drumming. Duh.  It was fun, but we only played together for a month.  I was only in it because Doug couldn't sing and play at the same time and Brandon didn't want to get worked    at the Battle of the Bands.  It was fun anyway.

4)  Laffingstock
This was possibly the most talented group I've ever been in. Stuart Maxfield, an old friend from Elementary school, was on the bass.  He's got mad skills.  His friend Joe Bridge was our drummer.  He's also a very talented kid. Ian James played with us sometimes, but not always.  He's a good guitarist but has trouble staying on task.  Nevertheless, he's fun to play with.  Brandon just rules it now, as he's got experience to draw on from punk, hardcore, jazz, and classic rock.  I was still on the microphone, and got to play rhythm guitar from time to time.
I guess the music we played is in a very tiny little category called that
nobody I know has ever heard of.  It's called "popcorn punk" by some kids.  I guess it's also referred to as "softcore" or "snowboarder punk."  We even played some Emo music now and then.  It was nice to be in a band that knew a lot about being musicians, not stupid teenagers trying to beat their ears to death with an amplifier.  All of us have a lot of experience in either other instruments or other fields to draw upon to make ourselves sound better.
The line-up of Laffingstock played twice.  The first was a stomp early in the 99-00 school year at East High.  Read my journal entry about that one; it was cool for us but not for anybody else.  The other show was a stomp at West.  That was lots of fun; everybody got way into it, we were on T.V. West, and we got into the yearbook I think.  It was rad.

5)  Fireside
This is now.  The band is comprised of myself on the bass and microphone, Brandon on lead guitar and backing vocals, Ian on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, and a kid named Eric Balken drumming for us.  More info to come shortly.
