![]() Welcome to God's Country...Philmont is a large, national camping area owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. It comprises 137,493 acres (nearly 215 sq. miles) of rugged mountain wilderness in New Mexico. Located in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rockies, Philmont has thirty-two staffed and more than fifty unstaffed camps at the ranch. In addition to the backpacking terrain ranging in elevation from 6,500 to 12,441 feet, Philmont is also a working ranch with both full-time and seasonal staff. This website is not a comprehensive guidebook; rather, it is designed to provide you with information about Philmont Scout Ranch that may be useful in planning a trek, recalling a past trip to Philmont, or simply learning more about "God's Country." | |||||||||||
