Vocaloid

Vocaloid is a musical synthesizer application developed by Yamaha Corporation.  The program able users to create music using medley & lyrics.  In other words, it's a singing program.  The program is more popular in Japan & is marketed by Crypton Future Media Japan.  The program is also available in the UK which is marketed by Zero-G Limited UK.  The popular didn't start until Vocaloid2 was released.

Vocaloid2 introduced not only has improvements from the previous program, but popular seiyuus.  Vocaloid2 is broken down into Vocaloid Character Vocal Series.  The introduction of Miku Hatsune, who is the first character in the series, became an instant hit in the otaku community.  She became a very known character in the internet as well, especially with her leek swinging action while singing levan Polkka. 

Because of Miku's popularity, many products were released such as figurines, cups, & T-shirts.  Most of these products tend to sell out fast.  Aside from Miku, other characters appeared as well but their popularity isn't as high as Miku's.
