Trade Map of Africa

Africa was a center of active trade with camel caravans going across the desert and ships sailing up and down the eastern coast. We have already seen Timbuktu, note the location of the city.

Points to Ponder:

-- If Africa was so active in trade why was it perceived as primitive?
-- Compare to the the Silk Road Map. How can the trade routes be connected?
-- How long do you think the trip from Timbuktu to Cario took?
