OBJECTIVE :
The College of Optometry, Central Colleges of the Philippines is committed to excellence in the pursuit of all its endeavors, by providing programs that value intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, humane orientation and professional integrity through an open exchange of ideas in an environment that encourages excellence in the field of optometry.
SECONDARY GOALS :
1.) To promote a community-service oriented training program.
2.) To conduct research and other scholarly activities that will bring forth improved health services.
3.) To raise the level of competence of the licensed optometrists by encouraging them to pursue lifelong passion for continuing optometric education.
4.) To improve the practice of optometry through educational, legislative and inter-professional undertakings.
SPECIAL COLLEGE OBJECTIVE :
Included in the training are steps to enable the clinician to be able to practice medical ophthalmology. Inclusion of general pharmacology and pharmaco-therapeutics in the curriculum of CCP-Optometry is a step in that direction.
The Central Colleges of the Philippines College of Optometry is located on the second floor of the Engineering Building. In addition to providing excellent teaching and laboratory facilities, the College operates an Optometry Clinic, which provides an ideal environment for training final year students.
Students are given the opportunity of not only using optometric equipments but also gains "hands-on" experience on these instruments.
The College had its beginnings in June, 1977. Dr. Edgardo T. Caparas, a noted ophthalmologist recognized the need to assist in the upliftment of the optometry profession, that he accepted the offer of the then Central Colleges of the Philippines president H.R. Reyes.
The College is located at the corner of Araneta Avenue and Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, Philippines. The College is committed to fulfilling expectations of its academic environment and the public trust.
The mission of the College is to serve the optometric needs of the public by educating optometrists to the highest level of proficiency, integrity, and professionalism.
