DESIGN of DRIVE SYSTEMS for
Launch VEHICLE ASSEMBLY BUILDING PLATFORMS
Done in: ISRO, Shar Center Shriharikota. ( Dec 1998 - Mar 1999 )
vab Vehicle Assembly Building folding Folding
hoisting Hoisting
Description: Vehicle Assembly Building is used to assemble the launch vehicles. This building consists of 12 platforms to enable the persons to work on different levels of the launch vehicle. These platforms has to be vertically re-positionable to allow the persons to reach the different levels and foldable to allow the launch vehicle to move. For the operations i. e. hoisting and folding drive systems to be designed. The drive systems for both hoisting and folding selected is electromechanical drive system employs wire ropes routed through pulley system. These drive systems consists of motor, gearbox, pulleys, rope drum, couplings, plummer blocks and electromagnetic brake. The calculation has done for platform # 1 in vehicle assembly building. For remaining platforms a software is written in C++, (Which is later done in VB) which will take the platform weight, velocities of operations & no of falls on either side of the platforms as input and gives the specifications of designed and selected as output.
Softwares Used: C++, Simulation Work Done Using 3D Max 2.0 .
Implementation: Second Launch Pad, ISRO, SHAR Centre.
