| Dear Sons of God, let us minister to one another in servitude and helps, Galatians 6:9 �Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (RSV). Serving others is serving the Lord! There is a tremendous blessing in serving others, as you take care of the needs of others, God always takes care of your needs. True servant hood, is by definition. �One expressing submission or debt to another.� As Christians, we are all indebted to Jesus for His ultimate act of servant hood. He temporarily left His position at the right hand of the Father to give His life, so that we might live, by His example. Mark 10:45 says that �The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many� (NIV). Jesus said this about Himself, and since He is our perfect example, our one and only template of how we are to live, we, too should make serving our highest priority in our lives. Does this mean that we are to only serve others and never let anyone serve us? NO, it simply means that our hearts are open and our attitude is in line with the pioneer and perfecter Jesus Christ. Unfortunately some people see serving or helping others as a low position. But the word says quite the opposite. In Matthew 23:11,12 Jesus is saying this: The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted (NIV). In Matthew 25:21 we see the reward, His master said to him. Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master (RSV). Whenever we are faithful to take care of the needs of others, we are actually taking care of Jesus. Jesus is still saying today in. Matthew 25:4 whatever you did for of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me (NIV). |
