Christina Marie Miles Coleman
"I'll lend you for a little time,
A child of mine" He said,
For you to love the while she lives,
and mourn when she is dead.
It may be six or seven years,
or twenty-two or three,
But will you, til I call her back,
take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
and though her stay be brief,
you will have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.

"I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I have looked the world wide over
in my search for teachers true,
and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
to take her back again?"

We fancied that we heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy Thy child will bring,
the risk of grief we run.
We will shelter her with tenderness,
We will love her all we may,
And for the happiness we have now,
forever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for her,
much sooner than we planned,
We shall brave the bitter grief
that comes and try to understand."

BORROWED GEMS
MY DAILY PRAYER
Dear God,
As I begin the day
Let me turn my thoughts to you
And ask your help in guiding me
In everything I say and do.

Give me the patience that I need
To keep my piece of mind
With life's cares,
I hope,
Dear God,
Some happiness to find.

Let me live, but just for today,
Not worry what's ahead,
For I have trust that you will see
I get my "Daily Bread."

Give me courage to face life's trial,
And not from my troubles run.
Let me keep this thought in mind,
"Thy will", not mine, be done.

And if some wish I do not get
Though I have prayed to thee,
Help me to believe and understand,
You know whats best for me.

I have failed you many times I know
But when tonight I rest,
I hope that I can kneal and say,
"Dear God, I've tried my best."

The poem "Borrowed Gems" means alot to me. I have had this poem since I was a young girl. I had gotten it from a friend of my Mother's who had lost her little girl in a fire. Someone had framed it and given it to her. God Bless her little Angel too. I never thought that I would use this one myself.
I had made three scrapbooks in school. These are a few of the poems and prayers that that I had added to it. I had given all three of the scrapbooks to my daughter Christa. She herself had these for a long time. So it means that much more to me to be able to add them to her memorial page.
A PRAYER
Thank you dear God
For this lovely day
I love you God
In every way
Protect me through
This wond'rous night
Until I see the morning light

Danny and Todd
This is the time of year
When you are so precious dear

When I think of the gift so devine
I think of you as a friend of mine

So always stay just as you are
You are my bright morning star

This will take up a little space
But Danny and Todd can'not be replaced.

LOVE FOREVER
Close by the door, the girl stopped to stand
A class ring held tight in her hand.
All who were watching could'nt speak.

In her mind all she could see
was his beautiful face,
in the warm summer breeze.
She understood the two must be free.
I guess that's why he set me free.

Now his eyes of brown have grown cold.
He is there no more for her arms to hold.
Before she leaves, she'll give him the ring,
For after he is gone she'll not have a thing.

They watched with care as she grew near,
And wispered ("Love You") into his ear.
She placed the ring on his finger with a kiss
And said "Good-Bye" to the guy she would miss.

The door opened and the wind began to blow.

As they carried his casket into the snow.

The Poem "Danny and Todd" was written about two young guys that were playing in a dirt mound. They had made tunnels in it. The mound of dirt had fallen on these two, while another guy had gotten free and went for help. They were unable to get out in time. Danny was a friend of mine. God Bless him, he was so young.
The poem "Love Forever" was written about Todd and his girlfriend.
