Created in 1918 by the decree n� 4924 from 01/09/1918, the school paid homage to its founder with its name.
   It had always its own headquarters since its creation, whose first address was 570, Primeiro de Junho Avenue ( nowadays the State School Joaquim Nabuco ). In 1929 was constructed the second building.
   There, it functioned until 1968, when it was transferred to a new building located at Benedito Valadares Square. In 1974, under the Resolution n� 810/74, the Primary School Padre Matias Lobato was named State School Padre Matias Lobato.
