Atlanta show
I
saw Sarah last night in Atlanta. I'm not very good at writing reviews,
especially since I got in around 2:30 am last night. (I drove to Atlanta
from Charlotte, a 4 hour drive.) I'll still give it a shot.
I really enjoyed the show. She played everything from You Were Here,
plus Old Perfume, and one new song. She didn't say the name of it, but I
really liked it. I think it would have fit right in on You Were Here.
One of the lines from the chorus was something like "close as a
girl can get to trouble." Anybody know what song that is?
I didn't write down the order, but I know she opened with Capsized and
closed with Lodestar. At about the halfway point, she did three songs by
herself, Everytime, the new song, and Old Perfume. I don't know why, but
it seemed like her voice sounded better when it was just her and the
guitar.
Kevin Fox did some amazing things with the cello, especially on You Were
Here and Lodestar. And Lodestar, wow, what a finale. It seemed like she
actually slowed the first part down just a little bit, but then the
ending...well, it just rocked.
For those of you who are wondering, Sarah had her hair in a pony tail,
and was wearing a black tank top, either dark blue or black jeans (hard
to tell with the dim lighting), and I think she was wearing black Chuck
Taylors, but her jeans were kind of long, so it was hard to tell.
Afterwards, I bought Songs For Clem and Valentino. I left before the
other act, Clem Snide, took the stage. I kind of felt bad, but I had a
long drive ahead of me. Last night I really wish I had a CD player in my
car so I could listen to the new CDs, but I had to settle for a tape I
had made of You Were Here.
Anyway, during the show, she mentioned that she was on her way to
Orlando for a show tonight, and then she would be in Mobile, Alabama. I
haven't seen anything about these shows on Sarah's website or on the
Pollstar web site. They both say her next show is in Houston, Wednesday
night, the 14th. So I just wanted to give everybody a heads up if you
live near Orlando or Mobile.
I don't know if I'd drive four hours to see Sarah again, but if she
comes to Charlotte, I'll be there.
Later,
P.J.
