Saw Sarah the First Time

I saw Sarah Harmer last night for the first time. So I thought I'd tell you about it. It's more about my experience rather than her music, if that's okay. I was a bit frustrated, but well, read on...

I went to a Barenaked Ladies concert last night. Those guys put on one hell of a show! They are so talented and never boring. But I really only bought tickets because I knew Sarah Harmer, a musician who I've admired for quite some time now, was playing. She hardly ever comes to my part of California, so this was a rare opportunity. And this was a chance for me to actually get to meet her!

After waiting for a few minutes, Sarah came up on stage with her band. She was awesome! There's so much in her music that I love. Her creativity and artistry astound me. During her last song (her set was only about twenty-five minutes long), I went around to the entrance of the front section to see if she could sign the CDs of hers that I brought with me. I asked the usher kindly, but she was such a hard ass. Dammit. She wouldn't let me through. Of course, that was her job, but hell!

So, I went back to my section, which was reserved but near the lawn. In the middle of The Proclaimers set, I became determined to somehow get my CDs signed. I mean, Sarah Harmer lives in Canada and mostly does shows there. I live in California; she NEVER comes here. So I went to the radio station tent who was promoting the concert and asked them, but they didn't "have access back there." Ugh. So, I went to the tour merchandise tent because during the Lilith Fair tour I knew that the staff knew the musicians. So, I asked the counterpeople. They had no f***ing clue!

AAAHHHHHH! I was so completely at my wit's end at that point. I was about to give up. But then I thought that maybe I would see her walking around somewhere. I then just strolled around the grounds of the amphitheatre. Sure, I sound like a stalker, but like I said: This was a rare opportunity -- I better try.

No luck. No f***ing luck. Oh well. My Sarah Harmer CDs will remain unsigned by the brilliant artist.
