Northampton show
The show was fantastic.
It just may have been the first time I saw Sarah play as the headliner
so it was a real treat. Danny Michelle opened and was very entertaining
(best description: a cross between Neil Young and Adam Sandler).
Sarah's set opened with "hideout", a great first song. The set
was flawless as always, her voice was right on and the new bass player
seemed to be settling in nicely (I particularly liked his bass lines in
Basement Apt). Like I said, I have Seen Sarah mostly open for other acts
or play short sets of her own so Friday was my first live taste of some
choice WT songs. She played "Judy G" by herself which was
beautiful. Also, "Good fortune" to which she aluded to a nice
experience she had on mushrooms ("been sippin' tea all day from a
pot steeping slowly on the stove" etc). Also, a reworked version of
"1st Lady" from the Cold Snap album; new version appears on
the Gas CD (quebec summit protesters tribute album). Also heard
"Oleander" for the first time, nice song. Closed with the
always powerful "Lodestar."
I bumped into Sarah downstairs afterward and as always she made the time
to say hi and chat for a sec.
Great show, totally worth the drive from Boston
