Dragonball/Z Movie Legends (Movie Reviews)

Movie Reviews

These are summaries of the 16 movies Mr. Akira Toriyama made for the Toei Fair every year. Most of these movies don't fit in the timeline except for Movies 1, 5, 9, & 13 (possibly 8 but I'll explain that theory later).

Dragonball: The Legend of Shenron

Released Date: 12/20/86
This is a retelling of how Goku began his adventures; from the first encounters with Bulma, Oolong, Puar, and Yamcha, up to his learning Kamehameha just by watching Master Roshi using the technique. This time, Goku's origins are tied in with the evil Emperor Gurumesu, who wants the Dragonballs to wish for delicious food, and the Emperor's minions, Pasta and Bongo (these two are using the quest for the Dragonballs to cover the fact that they are greedily raping the countryside to gather up valuable Richi Stones.) Bulma still wants to wish for a nice boyfriend (Yamcha wants the Dragonballs to wish for a woman he can marry), and ends up summoning Shenron before Gurumesu can, but the daughter of the local mayor, Pansy, shouts out her wish first -- for the countryside to be restored to its original state prior to the discovery of Richi Stones. Shenron does this, and causes the stones to disappear. Gurumesu becomes a normal deformed human that likes to eat apples, and Goku zips off to find the #4 Ball again.

Dragon Ball: The Sleeping Princess of Demon Castle

Released Date: 7/18/87
Chibi Goku seeks out master Roshi to ask to be accepted as a student, while the little runt priest, Krillin, arrives for the same reason (and uses a nude magazine as a bribe.) Master Roshi sends them on a quest far to the east, where "five mountains stand, called the 'Devil's Hand'." In a castle there, is the legendary, and pretty, "Sleeping Princess." Whoever brings back the Sleeping Princess will become the old pervert's student. The two boys set out, and Krillin uses all the standard tricks to trick Goku.

A little later, Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, and Puar -- who are on summer vacation -- arrive at Kame House to find Goku. Roshi says that the two boys have gone far to the east for training, so the friends fly in Bulma's Capsule jet to the Devil's Hand. When they near the castle, the jet is attacked by demons, and Bulma is taken to the Castle. The owner of the castle, Lucifer, pretends to treat her as a guest, until it becomes time to awake the Sleeping Princess. In the meantime, Goku and Krillin are fighting monsters, and they drop in on Bulma just before Shitsuji can drain Bulma of her blood through a giant syringe (Bulma's blood is to be used to toast the awakening of the Sleeping Princess.) Then, Lunch (bad) arrives to steal the Sleeping Princess -- which is really a giant jewel. Everyone is captured and encased in a wall of rock.

It is the night of a full moon, and the moonlight is used to power the jewel. The moonlight also turns Goku into a were-ape, and everyone escapes. They fight Lucifer, and Goku uses Kamehameha to destroy Lucifer's Princess-powered laser cannon (the full-moon-light is to be used to destroy the sun, and begin the Reign of Darkness), and kills Lucifer. The warriors escape, and Krillin acts contrite, but doesn't actually apologize to Goku for his behavior. The two boys return to Kame House with Lunch (good), and Master Roshi takes them both on as students. Then, Lunch sneezes, turns into Lunch (bad), and shoots Roshi full of holes.

Dragon Ball: Mysterious Adventure

Released Date: 7/09/88
Another retelling of the Dragonball story. This time, Chibi Goku and Chibi Krillin are training for the 22nd Budoukai to be held in the country of Mifan. The Emperor of Mifan, Chaozu, is trying to find his lost "Ran Ran." "Duke" Tsuru stole a Dragon Radar from Pilaf, and is using it to locate the Dragonballs. Duke Tsuru and Tao Pai Pai claim that they'll use the wish from Shenron to locate Ran Ran, but are actually planning, with Tien's help, to kill Chaozu and take over the country. Blue Commander announced that Ran Ran was being held in Tsuru's room, and was killed by Tao Pai Pai for it. Bora and Upa have located the final Dragonball and they take it to Miifan to use it to demand that Mifan's soldiers be forced to leave the land near Korin Tower.

Bora is tricked into entering the Budoukai (the winner of the Budoukai will be granted one wish by Chaozu), and is then killed by Tao Pai Pai. Bulma, Oolong, and Lunch are looking for the other 6 balls, so Bulma can wish for a boyfriend. But, when the balls are located, they're accidently dropped to the bottom of the moat surrounding Chaozu's castle. Tien realizes that he likes Chaozu too much, and doesn't kill his friend; instead, Tien blows away Tsuru. Commander Blue and Goku entered Penguin village (But this time it is Tao Pai Pai and Goku that meet Arale) and Goku kills Tao Pai Pai with Arale's help. Goku throws the final ball into the moat, and asks Shenron to resurrect Bora.

Return My Gohan!

Release Date: July 15, 1989
An evil little Demon, Garlic Jr., wants to get rid of Kami to make way for his own "reign of blood", so his minions attempt to kill Piccolo (if Piccolo dies, Kami also dies, and vice versa). After "killing" Piccolo, Garlic Jr. begins to gather all of the Dragonballs together to wish for immortality. Since young Gohan has the 4 Star Dragonball attached to his hat, Gohan is kidnapped by Garlic's minions. This causes Goku to seek out Garlic (whose castle is located on a black island in the south near Kame House). He goes to Master Roshi's to get the Dragon Radar and flies off on Nimbus to Garlic's. When Goku gets there, Garlic Jr. already made his wish for immortality. Right after Goku gets there Kami appears. Goku dukes it out with the Devil Kings while Garlic and Kami fight it out. Ginger & Nikki fired two ki blasts at Goku, which were deflected by Krillin's ki blast. After their greeting Piccolo arrived. Everyone was surprised to see Piccolo there. Gohan pissed on Krillin's head and mouth. Goku told Krillin to get Gohan, while he fight Garlic's minions. Piccolo went and got his revenge on Sansho. Goku blew up Nikki & Ginger into a tower with the Kamehameha attack. Kami tries to finish Garlic by self-destructing, but Goku and Piccolo stops him. Garlic Jr. pushed Kami off like he was some wrink old...nevermind. He over powers the two warriors by transforming into a huge muscular form. Goku and Piccolo takes off their weighted clothing and continue their fight. Garlic Jr. gets beaten up a bit by them, so he decides to create a "Deadzone" (a black hole) which threatens to suck everyone in and kill them. But Gohan (who had eaten a hallucinogenic apple, and is still feeling a bit of a buzz) gets angry, and blasts Garlic into the Deadzone. The Deadzone closes, sticking Garlic into a form of "eternal hell." Gohan remembers nothing that happens and Goku & Gohan flew off home on the Flying Nimbus.

The World's Strongest Guy!

Release Date: March 3, 1990
Oolong steals Bulma's Dragon Radar, and discovers that someone is gathering up the Dragonballs. He and Gohan go into the northern glaciers in time to see Dr. Kouchin summoning Shenlon and wishing for Dr. Wheelo lab to be released from the ice. Piccolo arrives to save Gohan from Kouchin's bio-men, but the namek is overcome by Wheelo's 3 bio-fighters (Gohan and Oolong escape). Later, Kouchin goes to Kame House, and kidnaps Bulma in order to force Master Roshi to go with him to the lab. Master Roshi is told to fight the three bio-fighters, and does well for a while, before being defeated by 3 androids. Bulma learns that Kouchin and Wheelo plan on turning the Earth into a desert and peopling it with androids. Dr. Wheelo's brain is encased inside a robot, and he wants the body of the world's strongest man to house his brain. But, while Master Roshi was the winner of the Tenkaichi Budoukai 50 years ago, (when Wheelo's lab was frozen) the strongest man is now Goku. Goku learns what happened to Master Roshi, and goes to the lab, where he destroys all 3 bio-fighters by that time Gohan and Krillin also arrive. They confronted Dr. Wheelo and Dr. Kouchin. Dr. Wheelo tried to take over Goku's body, but Goku broke free. He sent the brain-controlled Piccolo to fight Goku until Gohan's power exploded onto Dr. Wheelo causing the mind-control bands to shatter. Dr. Wheelo decides to fight the Z-Warriors, so he pulls his robot body free of the wall, the resulting destruction hurls Kouchin down an energy shaft, and Kouchin's outer coating melts before his own robot body is destroyed. Wheelo fights the Z-Warriors. He takes down Master Roshi & Krillin first. Piccolo fired rapid ki blasts, while Goku knocked him down with the powerpole. Goku used the Kaioken at 3x power along Kamehameha that hurled Wheelo up into space by Goku's full powered Kaioken 4x Kamehameha. Piccolo, Gohan & Krillin went after him trying to finish him. Wheelo tried to destroy the Earth, but Goku creates a Spirit Ball and throws it at Wheelo and he is destroyed up in space. Afterwards, Master Roshi says that Wheelo got one thing right -- Master Roshi is the world's #1 strong guy. Bulma corrects that to "the world's #1 dirty old man."

The Ultimate Decisive Battle For Earth!

Release Date: July 7, 1990
Oolong, Krillin, Bulma, and young Gohan are on a camping trip, when a spy satellite crashes into the forest and starts a raging fire. Krillin and Gohan battle to put out the blaze, then gather the Dragonballs to wish for the forest to be restored. One of the animals they save is a Haiya Dragon that follows Gohan home to become his pet. The two of them (and Goku) play together and have a lot of fun, but Chi-Chi wants the dragon sent back to its mountain so it'll stop disrupting Gohan's studies. Piccolo is meditating by the waterfall and he sensed the coming danger. It had the same presence as Goku, but evil. Meanwhile, a Saiyan fighter, Turles, and his minions are scouting Earth to locate Kakarotto. Turles wants Kakarot and/or Gohan to join him to go trash planets. The minions plant a seed for an energy-eating tree near the restored forest -- Turles plans on eating the fruit of the tree to get a "power up." The tree grows quickly and threatens to destroy Earth. King Kai alerts Goku to the danger, and everyone (Chi-Chi prevents Gohan from joining in, but Haiya Dragon kidnaps the boy to take him to the battle) goes to destroy the tree. The Z-Fighters come across Turles squad, but they were easily defeated (except Goku). Piccolo joins in to save Gohan, but the Namek still plans on killing Goku later on. Goku denies his Saiyan heritage, claiming that he's happy to have been hit on the head as a child, rather than growing up to be like Turles. Goku takes down Turles' minions and Piccolo is defeated by Turles. There's a major battle between Goku & Turles, he overpowers our hero after eating the fruit. The weaken Z-Fighters tried to stop him, but they were beaten too. Goku could hear his friends & son's thoughts and realize he couldn't give up. The saiyan made a Spirit Ball, but due to the lack of lifeforce, cause of the tree, the Spirit Ball wasn't strong enough. Turles easily counter the attack. Goku absorbed the energy from the tree and made a Super Spirit Ball to kill Turles and destroy the tree. Afterwards, the Spirit Ball breaks up, and the lifeforce energy repairs the damage from the tree. After that they all went camping. Oolong tried to congratulate Haiya Dragon and he snapped at the pig. He realized he's just like Piccolo, he hates him and likes Gohan. The scene ended with Piccolo meditating by the waterfall again.

Super Saiyan Goku!

Release Date: March 19, 1991
Gohan and the Haiya Dragon visit Piccolo (by the same waterfall he was at in Movie 3) to show the demon the new dance that Gohan taught the dragon. But, Piccolo, in pain, yells for Gohan to stop. A planetoid headed towards Earth causes a panic, and Krillin and Goku go out to try to deflect the thing with their Kamehameha. It still crashes into Earth, but it turns out to be a spaceship that needs to land for refueling. The ship is commanded by the imperious Emperor of the Universe -- Slugg, who demands that they leave in 3 days. A weather satellite is launched to cause a cloud to cover the planet, and freeze it over. Earth is now more hospitable for the soldiers living in the ship, and they step outside to terrorize the Earthlings. Slugg recognizes the Dragonball that is sewn into Gohan's cap, and reads Bulma's mind to learn about the Dragon Radar. The Dragonballs are rounded up, and Slugg wishes for his youth back. Chi-Chi finds Gohan gone to fight Slugg. Goku and Krillin receive Senzu Bean from Yajirobe, and they go to fight Slugg. Slugg's minions finds Gohan, Oolong & Haiya Dragon snooping around and in the nick of time Piccolo shows up to save Gohan. Piccolo kills Dorodabo. Metamucha & Angira were about to finish Gohan. Piccolo shield the boy's body with his own leaving them down. Goku & Krillin come in to the scene. Goku gave them a chance to surrender, but they wouldn't so Goku took them out. Slugg appears and Krillin wanted his turn, but Goku tried to warn him. Slugg bitch slapped his ass far over into a building leaving him saying, "Why these things always happen to meeeeeeeee!" The big timers start their battle, but Slugg's not impress by the saiyan's power. Goku was overpowered and just when he was about to be finish this out burst of power came. King Kai was wondering in that was the power of the "Legendary SSJ" (False SSJ). After breaking his arm, Slugg ripped it off, thus surprising the saiyan. He regrew a new arm and took off his helmet revealing that he's a namek. Slug turns into a giant and King Kai warns Goku that he is a Super Namek. Slugg has a rare disease that he was born with only evil in his heart making him a Super Namekain. King Kai said that a Super Namek is believe to be more powerful than Frieza & a SSJ. Goku goes back to battle and fires a ki blast in Slugg's eye (can anyone say Oozaru Vegeta). He grabs Goku and slams him into the ground. Piccolo grabs Slugg's antennaes, so he grabs Piccolo and wonders why he's laughing. Piccolo told him he knows all his weakness. Piccolo tears off his own ears, then yells for Gohan to whistle again. Slugg drops to his knees, and Piccolo tries to reach (I was wondered why he didn't use his extending arm ability) Goku so he could imparts his energy to him. The Goku/Piccolo energy fusion along with the Kaioken Goku goes right through Slugg (Piccolo Daimaoh), then Goku flies above the black cloud to get enough energy to create a Spirit Ball that kills Slugg. (Slugg trashed his own spaceship, so there's no bad guys left now.) The cloud dissipates, and Yajirobe reappears to give Senzu beans to the heroes. Piccolo grew his ears back. Finally, Master Roshi, who'd been sleeping through all this, wakes up from his dreams of naked women, and exercises while saying that the weather is very nice today.

Battle of the Strongest!

Release Date: July 20, 1991
Back when Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, and killed Bardock, Frieza's older brother, Koola had been watching from his own spaceship. Koola had seen Kakarot's space capsule zipping off, but didn't interfere with it. 20 years later, Koola receives a report stating that Frieza has been killed. Goku, Gohan, and Krillin go on a camping trip, and are attacked by Koola's Armor Corps. Goku was about to get midevil on them, but he was surprise to see Frieza (but it was Koola). Gohan flying over to help his father. Koola looks up and says, "All saiyans must be destroyed." Koola fires his Destructive Beams (Eye Beams) at Gohan, but Goku got in front of the blast to grab Gohan, twirled around a couple of times and fired a ki blast at Koola (he deflected it). They fell into the river and off the waterfall (always a damn waterfall). Koola came over a fired a big ki blast into the lake. Koola told his troop to go find them (that ki blast lefted a mark on his hand). Goku's injured and had to hide in a cave, while Gohan went to Korin Tower to get some Senzu Beans. Korin being the bastard he is, he tried to make Gohan go back down and climb the tower, but Yajirobe gave him a bag of senzus (Yajirobe seems nicer in the movies, instead of the series) and the extra one Korin had in his hand (Gohan put that one in his belt). Cause Haiya Dragon was flying so much he got tired, so Gohan give him a senzu. Koola's men picked them up on their scouters. Gohan gets attack by Koola's squad. Dore grabbed Gohan's head and started crushing it until he got blasted in the back. Piccolo is here! Piccolo tells Gohan to get Goku quickly. He took down the henchmens (Sauzer got away) until Koola showed up. Gohan gives Goku the Senzu Bean and Koola wants to fight Goku, and discover the true strength of the legendary "Super Saiyan." They fight for a while and Koola tells him he's impressed with his power and see how Frieza was easily defeated. Koola does 4th transformation and starts to whip Goku's butt like no ther. Goku used his best moves (Kamehameha & Kaioken). Goku than transforms into (dramatic pause) a Super Saiyan. Koola's attacks had no effect on him. He shoots Goku right in the face, and flies higher to form his own "Death Ball". Koola lets the blast loose, Goku catches it with his bare hands. However, he cannot withstand the immense power, and begins to collapse under it. Koola is pleased until he sees Goku blasts the ball right back at the changeling along with the Kamehameha, and Koola is hurtled through space. Koola realized he was the soft one for not killing Goku when he was a child. He is blown into the sun, and no traces of him. Back on Earth, Goku is exhausted. Gohan, Krillin, Oolong and Haiya Dragon show up as well. Then, someone else shows up out of a pile of debris. Gohan thinks it's Piccolo, and rushes towards it and Sauzer pops up! But before he gets the chance, a ki blast (Makankosappo) comes out of nowhere and drills right through Sauzer, killing him once and for all. Everyone is surprised, and Gohan calls out Piccolo's name repeatedly. Piccolo is revealed to be drinking some water out of a lake. He hears his name being shouted, and just grunts at it.

Release Date: July 10, 1993
The Money Family is hosting a Tenkaichi Budoukai as a birthday present for 10-year old Dollar Money. Dollar is hoping for aliens to come from space and join in the tournament, so four of Mr. Satan's pro-wrestling students are in costume as the "aliens" in the final rounds of the competition. King Kai and Goku are on Kaio planet (Kaio is watching the game on TV, Goku is playing Go Fish against Bubbles -- the deck has Uranai Baba and Pilaf's crew on the face cards.) The elimination rounds are basically 8 batches of free-for-alls; the last person standing in each free-for-all goes on to a one-on-one round. The Final Four each get shot into one of four "Battle Stages" to face Satan's "aliens." The first person to emerge from the Battle Stage wins the 100,000,000 zenni prize money, a trip to a hot spa, and a chance to fight Satan. Krillin, Future Trunks, teenaged Gohan, and Dosukoi make it to the Battle Zones, where they are attacked by real aliens (Satan's students have already been killed.) King Kai realizes that the aliens are Bojack's space pirates. A LONG time ago, the four Kaio's had battled Bojack, and imprisoned him far, far away. Bojack has escaped, and come to Earth to destroy it and kill Gohan as revenge on King Kai, knowing that Goku is King Kai's student, Gohan is Goku's kid, and Earth is Goku's planet. There is a lot of fighting as all of the Z-Fighters (except Chaozu) show up to attack Bojack's henchmens. Eventually, the heroes are trashed, and Bojack is about to crush Gohan's throat. Goku can't take it anymore, and the dead warrior teleports from heaven just long enough to punch Bojack in the face and save Gohan. Goku told Gohan to use the anger inside him. With renewed anger, Gohan goes to Super Saiyan 2, and kills Bojack's remaining minions (with one punch) before killing Bojack. Satan had been trying to escape since seeing that the Z-Fighters had entered the tournament, but was pushed into a sled and sent to the Battle Zone, where he succeeded in destroying the camera televising the fight with Bojack. At the end of the movie, Satan is again declared savior of Earth, and no one wins the prize money. Gohan, Trunks and Krillin are recovering in a hospital for some reason, while Piccolo and Vegeta are already fully healed.

The Mischievious Partners! Super Warriors Never Rest!

Release Date: March 12, 1994
Goten, Trunks and Videl are out gathering up the Dragonballs. When asked, Trunks decides that he wants to have an amusement park just for him, while Goten wants to have a park filled with delicious cakes and candy and succeeds in grabbing the 5th one. Then they zip off to find the sixth one, they come upon a village terrorized by a monster dragon. The last girl in the village is about to be sacrificed to appease the monster, when Videl volunteers to take her place. Goten, Trunks, and Videl hide next to the supper set out for the monster, surprise it, and kill it (after much screwing around.) In return, Trunks receives the Dragonball attached to the village Shaman's necklace. Meanwhile, a Saiyan space capsule crashes to Earth nearby, and the sleeping Saiyan inside is aroused by vibrations caused by Goten when the boy wanted to eat the banquet set out for the monster. The Saiyan turns out to be Brolly. When Brolly stretches his muscles the next day, Videl senses it, and goes to fight him. Then she is followed by Goten and Trunks. Brolly thinks that Goten is Kakarotto, and there is much fighting. The final Dragonball is located during the battle, but Goten doesn't know how to summon Shenron, so Trunks gets trashed while trying to distract Brolly (Trunks also has to take a piss after hiding next to a bunch of waterfalls, and relieves himself on top of Brolly's head). Gohan senses Brolly's ki, and arrives to join in the battle. Gohan's blast causes lava to boil up, and Brolly is trapped in the magma. Gohan passes out as the magma inches near him. (Krillin is dressed up like Piccolo as a joke when he saves Gohan.) But Brolly is a Super Saiyan, and the magma doesn't phase him. Gohan and Goten use the Kamahameha on Brolly. Goten wished that their father could helped them (And, probably because of the Dragonballs nearby, Goku is allowed to show up to perform a Kamehameha as part of, the trio). Trunks manages to throw an energy ball that distracts Brolly, and the triple Kamehameha blows Brolly into space, and into the sun. Videl recovers, and thinks that Gohan was masquerading as Brolly, and attacks him. Goten and Trunks go back to the village to get food, and Krillin wonders why everyone has forgotten about him. (The Dragonballs disperse as if Shenron had fulfilled a wish.)

The Super Warrior Clone! I am the Winner!!

Release Date: July 9, 1994
#18 has gone to Mr. Satan's house to collect on the 20 million zenni prize money from the Tenkaichi Budoukai that she let Satan win. Satan claims that the money hasn't been turned over to him yet. Then, a minion of a guy who was a classmate of Satan's, arrives to blackmail Satan into going with him to fight some bio-tech warriors. The minion, Menmen, threatens to tell the papers that Satan was a bed wetter in 6th Grade. Satan caves in, and #18 goes along to keep Satan from running away. Goten and Trunks hide in the back of the car to try to fight these bio-techs, and Krillin is forced to take his daughter back to Kame House. Baron Jaga Badda has created some pro-wrestler-strength warriors, and he wants them to fight Satan, just to put Satan back in his place. Satan pretends that #18 and the two boys are his students, and they easily destroy the bio-tech. However, Goten recognizes the guy standing beside Jaga as being the Shaman from the forest village in the last movie. Turns out that the Shaman collected some of Brolly's blood at the battle site, and sold it to Jaga. Jaga had his scientists use the blood to create the "Ultimate Bio-tech Warrior." Trunks and Goten try to use Kamehameha on Brolly's container before Brolly can awaken, but it is too late. However, the process isn't complete, and Brolly is badly misformed. There is much fighting, the chemicals used in the bio-tech process get loose and eat up all living things, and Brolly trashes Goten, Trunks, and #18. Krillin arrives to protect his wife, and also gets trashed. Finally, the heroes rescue the scientists, and all of the people living on Jagaa's island escape onto ocean liners. The bio-tech chemicals try to eat Brolly, and are instead turned into an energy source for him. Ultimately, Goten discovers that the chemicals lose potency in sea water, so Krillin, Goten, and Trunks (Who taught him, Goten?) use a Kamehameha to create a tidal wave that cleanses the island. Brolly keeps trying to kill Goten, but is now vulnerable to Goten's and Trunks' energy blast. Brolly dies, and Mr. Satan tries to swim back home, rather than accepting #18's offer of saving him for a total of 1 Billion zenni.

At this point, the concentrated evil covering Psych takes effect, turning the boy into a giant yellow squeeze toy named Janenba. Janenba immediately encases Yemma's Gate House in a magic crystal, and it then amuses itself by twisting the fabric of space for a while. With Yemma trapped, the dead residing in Hell can escape and roam around on Earth. Gohan and Videl set out to combat the dead, while Goten and Trunks search for the Dragonballs to set everything right again. Gohan gets to confront Frieza again, and very quickly destroys the monster. All of the other supporting villians from the previous DBZ movies & animes also surface, only to be killed by the Great Saiyaman. Shenron is summoned, but the Dragon God has to admit that it has no jurisdiction over the dead, and it can't fix the problem involving Yemma. So, Goten and Trunks spend the movie fighting the endless masses of Hitler's zombie armies. Mr. Satan is also dispatching zombies easily, but he's upset that there's no TV crew around to broadcast his exploits; he plans on calling in a report to the TV station later. Dai Kaio suspends the Budoukai to let Pikehan and Goku run off to Yemma's Gate House to resolve the problem. At first, they try to play with Janenba, until Goku starts getting mad. Unfortunately, Janenba can do transdimensional tricks, and it punches one way, only to have his fist appear elsewhere to blindside Goku. Pikehan is told by Dai Kaio to try to free Yemma (eventually, Pikehan realizes that by swearing and insulting people, he can make the magic crystal crack and flake off.) Janenba can also make copies of itself, as well as warping Goku so that the hero will appear in front of his own Kamehameha. Goku switches up to SSJ 3 and pummels Janenba. The creature melts, only to turn into the next-stage version -- Evil Janenba . Janenba now uses a series of warp tricks and trashes the SSJ3 Goku. Goku escapes deeper into Hell, first hiding in the Bloody Pool; then he gets rescued by the dead Vegeta. (Vegeta reminds Goku that only he has the right to destroy him.) Vegeta attacks Janenba, and also gets trashed. Vegeta's body flies towards the Mountain of Needles, and is caught by Goku. Goku tries to get Vegeta to do Fusion with him, but the Saiyan Prince would rather die first (Goku points out that Vegeta IS dead.) Vegeta's pride is tearing him up, and Janenba attacks the mountain, causing Goku to grab Vegeta's shoulder and teleporting them both to a safe zone. Vegeta relents, and Goku shows him the Fusion pose. Vegeta is appalled at the idea of having to do something so stupid. But, there is no time left, so the two of them perform Fusion. Vegeta forgets to extend his right forefinger, and the resulting Fat fusion character called Veku attracts Janenba's attention. The ensuing battle is plain slapstick (Veku's only successful attack is a series of foul-smelling farts.) At the last moment, just as Janenba is going to destroy Veku, the Fusion wears off (it took 30 minutes) and the two Saiyan run away again. West Kaio telepaths out that Vegeta botched the pose. So, they try again. And are interrupted by Janenba. Pikehan succeeds in breaking the magic crystal, and he runs to confront Janenba to give Goku and Vegeta more time. Janenba apparently kills the dead Pikehan just as the Fusion takes hold. Gogeta is formed. Trunks and Goten are still fighting against bad guys (Hitler's army). On Earth, Goten and Trunks sense the energy levels of their fathers, and the two boys also do Fusion to become Gotenks and uses the Super Battle Bomber Attack to create 100 exploding ghosts to destroy Hitler's armies. Gogeta punches Janenba up a bit before performing "The Crystal Wave". The attack blows up in the monster's chest, and all of the evil within it dissappears. Psych returns to normal, takes one look at Gogeta and runs away screaming. Yemma is back in charge, and the dead all return to Hell, including Vegeta (Vegeta says that he never wants to Fuse with Goku again). Goten and Trunks promise each other not to tell Gohan and Videl who it was that saved them all; Gohan and Videl chase the boys to get the answer from them. At the end of the movie, Shenron asks if this means that no one is going to ask him for a wish.

Dragon Fist Assault! If Goku Can't Do It Who Can?

Release Date: July 15, 1995
A long time ago, a group of evil magicians brought a huge, skull-faced demon -- Hildegarn -- to life to terrorize their planet. The demon could only be controlled by two gourd whistles and a legendary sword. Tapion and his little brother, Minosha, had used the gourd whistles to play a song that calmed Hildegarn long enough for the demon to be cut in two, and trapped within the bodies of the two brothers. Tapion was sealed in a music box and shot out into space.... It's a busy day in Satan City for the crimefighting team Great Saiyaman (Gohan is Saiyaman 1, and Videl is Saiyaman 2) when they get a call that a crazy old man is trying to commit suicide by jumping from a tower. The old man, Hoi, is rescued, and he shows Gohan a box that can't be opened. The boy tries to turn the crank, but can't. The box is given to Bulma, but her science toys can't see inside it. So, the Z-Fighters round up the Dragonballs and ask Shenron to make the box open. This happens, and Tapion steps out. Minosha, who used to look just like Chibi Trunks, was killed long ago, and his half of the demon starts stalking Satan city and trashes it. Tapion escapes to a deserted factory plant, and is followed by Trunks (Trunks keeps bringing food to Tapion, but Tapion keeps chasing him away.) When Tapion falls asleep, his half of the demon tries to escape from his body, but is then recaptured when Tapion wakes up again. Eventually, Tapion is befriended, and he explains everything to Bulma. Bulma tries to make a demon-capturing bedroom, but Hoi is using his own magic to awaken Hildegarn. Tapion's half of the demon escapes Bulma's trap and becomes whole again. The Z-Fighters help trash the city in their attempt to defeat the demon, and Goten and Trunks use Fusion to become Gotenks (but, Gotenks' Continous Death, Death Missile cause the demon to go into a cocoon phase before emerging as a giant WINGED demon.) The Z-Fighters get mulched, Tapion tries to use his whistle, but it shatters. Trunks tries to use Tapion's Holy Sabre on the demon, but Goku switches to Super Saiyan 3, and announces that Hildegarn is HIS to defeat. Goku pulls out the Exploding Dragon Fist and destroys the demon. Afterwards, Bulma makes a time machine to return Tapion to the time when the boy had been shot into space, and Tapion gives his sword to Trunks.

A Final Solitary Battle: The Z Warrior Goku's Father Challenges Frieza

Release Date: October 17, 1990
The Bardock Special begins at Planet Vegeta and the narrator stated, "On the Planet Vegeta, a baby has been born..." On Planet Kanassa, where some Oozaru Saiyans are wreaking havoc on the native fishmen. The morning after, we learn through conversation that one of them, Bardock by name, is the father of a new baby boy named Kakarotto. He goes on to explain that a mineral on the planet creates a pyschic ability in the Kanassan. Bardock makes a few disparaging comments about his son's low potential when he is attacked by the last surviving member of Kanassa. The attack is extremely short-lived, as the alien simply taps bardock on the back of the head before getting blasted. Before he dies, the alien makes a prophecy that Bardock will see the death of his people, and the death of himself. After Bardock completely destroys the alien, he passes out. Meanwhile, in Frieza's spaceship, Frieza overhears Zarbon and Dodoria making some comments on the problem of the Saiyan power, and quietly comes to a decision about them. He sends Prince Vegeta off to clear a small planet, and begins making preparations. Back on Planet Vegeta, Bardock's team goes ahead to the next target: Planet Meat (Bardock himself is recovering in the regeneration tank). Bardock wakes up shortly afterward, knocked somewhat off-balance by a dream of everyone dying, and takes a quick check on his son's power level before rushing off to join his fellow teammates. On Meat, Bardock finds nearly all of his group dead, except for Toma, who is mortally wounded. Toma explains that it was all Frieza's doing, and to escape before Bardock is also murdered. Bardock cleans the blood off all of their faces with a rag, which he wears it as a bandanna before facing Dodoria's four henchmen (who had killed his friends). The henchmen go down easily, but he is smacked around like a doll by Dodoria, who leaves him for dead. Bardock recovers, and has another prophetic vision similar to the ones that he had been experiencing earlier as he travels back to Planet Vegeta to warn the other Saiyan. Shortly after landing, he makes the connection of what is going to happen. Bardock attempts to warn the other members of his race, but they all laugh him off. He decides to take matters into his own hands, and attacks Frieza's ship directly. After Bardock mows down a couple hundred footsoldiers, Frieza himself hovers out of his ship. Bardock uses his full might on Frieza, but his opponent is just too powerful. With the death ball that also destroys Planet Vegeta, Bardock is killed. Just before he dies, Bardock has one final vision of the future: That his son would be the one to destroy Frieza. Meanwhile, a lone Saiyan space pod lands on a small, insignificant blueish planet in the Solar system, and its one passenger is discovered by an old man named Son Gohan.
