When I started Pre-K, I was enrolled in the bilingual program. I made the transition to the regular program (all English), as a matter of fact to the advanced (Honors) program, when I was in 3rd grade. In junior high I was recognized for getting straight A's during all three years. I will be graduating from high school in May 2003 at the top 2% of my class having taken AP courses--including Calculus BC and Physics C.
Since I was 5, I have participated in basketball and soccer at the YMCA, soccer at Klein Soccer Club, track and soccer during my sophomore and junior years of high school, and Tae Kwon Do since I was 15 at US TKD. I am presently red belt with aspirations to become a black belt before I finish high school.
I love cars, music--all kinds of music--and stereo systems. I love to hang out with my friends, just talk, and watch movies. One thing I have recently picked up is photography. I am taking a photography class this semester, and it has allowed me to express my feelings and emotions--I really like it!
During the summer of 2001 I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer at the Cypress Fairbanks Hospital. This was a very rewarding experience, but also, a very important decision came out of it: I was thinking in Medicine as my career, but this experience made me realize that Medicine was not what I wanted to pursue. Instead I started looking at Engineering, specifically the areas of Biotechnology and Electricity.
Since my junior year, I have been tutoring some of my friends and other students at school in Math (Algebra and Pre-Calculus) and Physics. I find this activity very interesting, and it really pushes me to learn more while teaching.
I also had a job during the summer of 2002, a real one where I made money--yeah! I worked at Fuddruckers. My position: Guest Services Associate. My duties: cleaning tables, ensuring that dining area was clean, attending to customer needs, and maintaining the drinking station with proper levels of ice and mix of beverages. My shifts were predominantly Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (5 p.m. to midnight; sometimes until 2 a.m.!) This taught me that life is not easy. I could not see my friends, I arrived home very tired, and at the end of the summer, I just had few bucks in my pocket.
If you arrived to this line, thanks! I appreciate the time you have taken to read about me. These are the seventeen years of my life summarized into a few sentences. |
