Meeting about Replacing the Church held 22 June 1729
Influential citizens held a meeting to consider what to do about the state of the old church attended by John Barrett, Henry Crowther, Daniel Evans, Richard Harding, John Johnson, Thomas Keen, John Phillips, John Purnell, Francis Savage, John Sloper, William Tomkinson, Barnard Wickes, Joseph Wickes, John Wight, Henry Wightwick
The matter went to Parliament who suggested repairs and on 10 Feb 1740 charged Thomas Estcourt, Richard Harding, Joseph Ralph, Charles Savage and William Savage with overseeing the work.
After spending money doing doubtful repairs, the Old Church was demolished and rebuilt to be opened in 1770

Henry Barrat, Woolcomber, 17081021 - 17580525 aged 49, son of Thomas, and his wife Margaret 1720 - 17580409 baptised Anne 17520122, William 17540425 - 17830515 and James 17561227. Both parents died 6 weeks apart. The family could afford to pay for Margaret's funeral, but needed help with the expense of Henry's burial. The 3 Barratt children were placed in the care of Elizabeth Holt, and the Overseers paid her an allowance for their keep - on Nov 13, 1758 she had 19 children in her care, and received 4-7-10 for the previous 4 weeks. Overseers accounts for 1741 to 1759 have been preserved at Gloucester Record Office.

Henry Barret Two buried his daughter Elizabeth 17811005, four months after her mother Mary was buried 17810603.

John Barrat and his wife Rebecca were delivered to Beverston, Glos, Overseers on 6 Dec 1771 by the Tetbury Overseer, John Baily reference P328a OV 3/2/1 dated 21-Oct 1771. The inference is that he had been hired for a year at Beverston, and that new born Mary stayed in Tetbury, probably in the care of the Foundling's Home run by the Tetbury Overseers.

Martha Barrett aged 11 years, a poor child of Tetbury, was Apprenticed on 26 Aug 1741 to Thomas Barrett of Horsley to learn the trade of Taylor and Mantia maker. Rreference P328a OV 4/3 dated 26-Aug 1741. Martha was baptised 17300521, the baseborn daughter of Ann Barret 1707- .

He baptised Mary 17631212, John 17651111, Sarah 17680306 buried by the Parish 17850320, Thomas 17700324, James 17750611 buried the next day, and William buried by the Parish 17870128. (5 months before his father).

His parents were John BARRETT and Elizabeth DAVIS, Tetbury.
