James Stephens received the lease belonging to Thomas Miles reference D566 T 2/3 dated 19 Nov 1754. On 9 Nov 1765 James sold it to Robert Clark for 31-10-0. The lease was first made by Thomas Miles on 2 Jan 1741.

James Stephens, our excellent Parish Clerk, aged 53, was buried 6 Nov 1773. This suggests that James is the son of Thomas, baptised 17210307, and is not the child buried four days later, on 17210311.

I appoint my friends Rev John Wight and Samuel Saunders, and my brother Thomas Stephens my executors, and leave them the remainder of my property after paying my neice Mary Mill 20 pounds.
Codicil made 28 Oct 1773 because he had sold his land named in the will, and purchased other property.
