Fires claim 5,000 lives every year.  Home fires are the leading cause of injury among children in one fifth of all U.S. states. For children 1-4, the number of deaths in home fires exceeds the number of children who die due to cancer. Help your family and home

SCALDS
More than 4,000 children are scalded by tap water every year. Most commonly, young children are the victims. Remember that infants' skin is a lot thinner and more sensitive than an adult's is and can be scalded quickly. Try following these tips to help prevent unnecessary burns:
Spas and hot tubs, typically located near or sometimes inside the home, pose another hazard to young children. CPSC is aware of 55 children under age 5 who drowned in spas and hot tubs between 1996 and 1999.
