Starmania
(directed by Lewis Furey) has been performed at the Casino de Paris since
October 29th, 1998 and until April 25th, 1999 (see the Information
section).
This re-opening will celebrate the 20th
anniversary of Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon's musical. So here is the
opportunity for us to dedicate this page to the great production which
opened in 1993 at the Mogador Theatre in Paris.

Lewis Furey was born in Montréal with an American mother and a Canadian father. When he was a child, he studied violin at the Quebec Conservatoire. When he was 16, he moved to New York to study.
He then began to write poems which were
published in magazines, and sang in cabarets. He released two albums :
"Lewis Furey" and "The Humours of". At the same time, he wrote the scores
of many movies such as : "Fantastica", "Marie Chapdelaine", "L'ange et
la Femme", etc.
He also wrote songs for other artists
(Céline Dion, Jean Guidoni and Petula Clark).
In 1980, he came in Europe. He created
several music-hall shows in Paris and in Montreal with his wife Carol Laure.
They released two recordings : "The Sky is Falling" and "Alibis".
In 1985, Lewis Furey co-wrote "Night Magic"
with Leonard Cohen, a musical movie that he directed and which was part
of the Cannes Official Selection in 1986. His second movie was released
in 1988.
At the same time, he went on writing and
producing albums for Carole Laure : "Western Shadows" and "Move on". He
worked on her tour and directed six video clips for this project.
Lewis Furey also worked on other video
clips (Françoise Hardy, Mecano, Renaud, Céline Dion, etc.)
and on commercials (Nina Ricci and Philips).
