Mrs. Mattie Eva Goss Whitt Eades dies at age 100 ELON COLLEGE — Mrs. Mattie Eva Goss Whitt Eades, 100, formerly of 1422 Brentwood St., High Point, died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Alamance Health Care in Burlington, after three months of failing health. A native of Person County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ernest Whitt and the late Mr. Roscoe Eades. She was the daughter of Mr. John R. Goss and Mrs. Bera Anna Adcock Goss, both deceased. She was retired from Silver Knit Hosiery in High Point and was a member of Green Street Baptist Church in High Point. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louise Mitchell of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Jones of Elon College; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Cecilia Kidd and Mrs. Betty Farlow, both of Randleman; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Lynn of Durham; three grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-great-stepgrandchildren. DURHAM - Gladys Goss Sorrell Lynn, 92, formerly of Durham, died unexpectedly at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday, February 6, 2005. She had been in declining health for several years and was living at the Orange County Nursing Home in Orange, Va., since 2001. She lived in Durham most of he life. Mrs. Lynn was born in Durham County on May 9, 1912, to the late John R. and Bera Anna Adcock Goss. She was educated in the Durham City Schools and attended Grey Stone Baptist Church. For several years, she worked for the Carolina Motor Club in the License Department. Mrs. Lynn then became a house mother at the Watts Hospital School of Nursing, where she retired in 1975. She was the last living member of her siblings. Mrs. Lynn is survived by her son, Robert W. Sorrell and wife, Maureen, of Locust Grove, Va.; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husbands Robert W.
