Since Moyamoya is so rare, only a handful of medical centers have a decent track record for treating it.

Children with Moyamoya disease sometimes have mental retardation or motor weakness.

The frequency of TIA's decrease with time.

Fatal stroke in Moyamoya disease is, in most cases, attributable to recurrent hemorrhages.

Without surgery, the majority of individuals with Moyamoya disease will experience mental decline and multiple strokes because of the progressive narrowing of the arteries.

*While treatment and surgeries are available, Moyamoya disease is currently incurable.
