Aquamarine is a type beryl. Beryl is named for the beryllium in it. It has a hexagonal crystal shape. The stones are formed in pagmatites, huge lakes of one stones. There have been gems found to be over 1,000 carats in these deposites. Aquamarine is usually blue-green in color, hence its name. However, it can also be clear and blue. The blue is the most desired. Slowly heating the blue-green gems will produce a blue stone. | ||||||||||||
