Superior: above or towards the head
Inferior: Below or toward the tail end
Anterior/Ventral: Toward the front
Posterior/Dorsal: Toward the back
Lateral: Towards the side
Medial: Toward the middle
Distal: Far away (relative to ...)
Proximal: Within proximity (close)

Body Planes

Sagittal Plane:
runes longitudically and splits the body into right and left parts

Coronal Plane:
Splits body into dorsal and ventral parts

Transverse Plane:
Splits the body into superior and inferior sections.

I.     Dorsal Cavity
          -Cranial Cavity
               *Encolses the brain
               *Surrounded by a membrane
          -Spinal Cavity
               *Surrounded inside the bones; surrounds spinal cord
II.    Ventral Cavity
          -Thorasic Cavity
               *Contains heart and lungs
