A.   The FRI has choosen a format to determine a car number for each vehicle.  A SPECIAL STAGE RACE is held 1 week before the beginning of the season for racers to compete in to receive their vehicle numbers.  The person who finishes 1st will get car number 1.  The next runner up, 2nd, will receive car number 2.  The person who finishes 3rd will receive car number 3, and so on for the rest of the place finishers.  If a competitor retires from the race season, his number cannot be taken.  All numbers that are dertermined in the SPECIAL STAGE RACE before the beginning of the season and will be the numbers for that season.

Racers who enters after the
SPECIAL STAGE RACE for car numbers will be assigned a number according to who enters before who i.e. there are 16 racers, the racer who enters after the race for car numbers will get car number 17, the racer after that gets car number 18 and so on for the rest who enters.

Sometimes the fastest SS time doesn't come up in the laps that you received your fastest sectors, such as the example above.  This time, lap 3's SS time is faster even though it didn't make the fastest sector time.  You do the same thing as you would do in example 1.  Add the sector times together to get your total SS time.

Taking the fastest sector times and adding them up is prohibited.  The SS time is determine in each lap.  Sector times must be from the same lap.
Lap 1 - 0:07.536       0:14.237       0:14.574       0:11.656    SS Time = 0:28.811
Lap 2 -
0:07.365       0:13.263       0:14.798       0:12.398    SS Time = 0:28.061
Lap 3 -
0:07.247       0:13.324       0:14.259       0:10.378    SS Time = 0:27.583*
Lap 4 -
0:07.365       0:13.487       0:14.208       0:11.298    SS Time = 0:27.695
Lap 1 - 0:07.536       0:14.237       0:14.574       0:11.656    SS Time = 0:28.881
Lap 2 -
0:07.365       0:13.263       0:14.798       0:12.398    SS Time = 0:28.061
Lap 3 -
0:07.247       0:13.624       0:16.359       0:10.378    SS Time = 0:29.983
Lap 4 -
0:07.365       0:13.287       0:14.198       0:11.298    SS Time = 0:27.485*

In this case, you are to add Lap 2's sector 2 and sector 3 times together to find the total SS Time.  Since Lap 4 you've produced a fast sector 3 time, you can add sector 3 and sector 2 to see if you've beaten your 2nd Lap's total SS time.  You can see that Lap 4's SS time beats Lap 2's SS time.  Therefore you write down Lap 4's sector 2 and sector 3 times.
