The Gamma Delta Sigma Chapter was chartered in Miami on March 11, 1955 by the relentless efforts of Allene V. Taylor. Assisting her in organizing this chapter were Elizabeth Espy Curtis and Ruby Thomas Rayford, two young Sigma women residing in the Miami area.
Ten women sharing this vision joined in bond to join our sisterhood as chartered members: Vera Austin, Mable Barlow, Inez Davis, Naomi Espy, Naomi Gooding, Mallie Hunter, Jane Davis Lewis, Eunice W. Liberty, Walton Y. Robinson, and Roberta Johnson Thompson.
Ruby Thomas Rayford is Gamma Delta Sigma's only living charter member and also very active with the chapter.
Gamma Delta Sigma Chapter, via its Grand Chapter programs and projects, currently addresses global concerns of the new millenium:
Project Africare
Mwanamugimu
Operation Big Book Bag
Wee Savers
R.V. Perry Birthright
Budding Roses

Project Reassurance
Rhomania/Buds of Spring
