JOHN DUNN

Death of John Dunn

Saturday evening, Dec. 28, 1895, the Angel of Death visited our community and took from it our esteemed friend and neighbor, John Dunn.

Mr. Dunn was born in Ireland in 1812. Fiftythree years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Bridget Ryan of Ireland. He came to this country with his family in 1860 and amid the struggles and hardships of a pioneer life, he has left behind him one of the most comfortable homes on Glen Lake.

Mr. Dunn has been failing in health for some time, but his friends did not realize that the end was so near, as he had been as well as usual until a few days before his death.

He leaves, to mourn his loss, an aged companion who has the sympathy of all in her hour of sadness, and seven children, R. Dunn of Glen Haven, Mrs. T. and J. Sullivan of Maple City, S. Dunn of LaCrosse, Wis. Mrs N. McLeod of Lake Ann, J. Dunn and Mrs. M. Karns of this place.

In politics Mr. Dunn was a staunch republican. We feel that we have lost a good citizen, but what is our loss is his gain.

The funeral services were held at their residence Monday, Dec. 30, at 9:30 a.m. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery near the Narrows.
