Which End is Up?

Welcome to counselor's corner. Have you ever been run ragged? I mean, you are being pulled in so many different directions that you don't know if you are coming or going? Well my fellow readers, I know that feeling well. I am currently working in another town, 13 miles from my house. It takes 30 minutes on a good day to get to and from work. I am involved in several missions in my church. I serve on three committees in my church, and my wife and I are youth counselor's in church, on top of that, I am currently the Durham District Youth Coordinator. Did I just make you tired? It is alot of work to take on. I find that the easiest way to balance this hectic life style is to rely on God, and trust that He will give me the strength and guidance I need to get through. I am no different from any of you, I am sure that most of you have full time jobs, maybe part time jobs to go along with that. Have kids, so your free time is spent taxiing them where ever they need to be because they are just as busy with school, sports and friends. We are all just busy. If there is free time, well there is grass to be mowed, dogs to be walked, floors to be swept, tables that need to be dusted, you know, just no real down time at all. Well, I have been seriously thinking about all the free time I don't have, and as much as I like being busy, I like relaxing just as much. Look back in your Bibles, God created the world in six days, the seventh, He rested. Now, if God Himself rested after work, shouldn't we? I believe that God wants us to be rested. When we are tired, worn out, and weary, are we capable of showing anyone the path of salvation? Now it is debated among Jews and Christians whether the sabbath is Saturday or Sunday. Americans have it made, because most of us get both days off. Now, people like me get two days off a week, but never the weekend, and never in a row. Regardless of that, we all need a day to be able to sit and think about everything God has done for you. What is God's plan for you? How can you do your creator's work? How are you going to find all of that out when you are so busy, you don't stop to listen? So, take a day off. Sit back, watch the grass grow, watch the tables get dusty, you still need to walk the dog, but take some time for God. He wants you to stop and rest as much as He wants you to do His work on Earth. Thanks for listening.
