Spring: 2007

April 22nd 2007 Post Spring- Storm

"I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my permanent promise to you and to all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with everything that lives. Never again will there be a flood that will destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth." Then God said to Noah, "Yes, this is the sign of my covenant with all the creatures of the earth."-Genesis 9:13-17

I was driving north on Iowa Ave. from my friend's house by the National Guard Armory (by hwy 28) and was captivated by two beautiful rainbows almost next (looking south east) to one another this evening (around 8:05pm before sunset)...

I called my friend that I just visited and told her to look outside her patio window. I told her I was going to the UMM campus to take more pictures of this beautiful site...

"And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and [there was] a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald."-Rev 4:3

"And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow [was] upon his head, and his face [was] as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire"-Rev 10:1

Wind Storm Knocks Branches All Over Sunday, May 6th 2007

I woke up too early this morning around 7am to the winds that were howling. I just layed in my bed to sleep longer, but I had a hard time just going back to bed. I finally got up around 8:30am because I heard a bulldozer or some big truck scraping it's plow along the road. I said to myself, "Is it snowing?..Why do I hear a snow plow?". I look outside of my bedroom window facing E. 3rd St. to find out a large section of a tree on the ground besides my neighbor's minivan. I saw tree branches around the van and thought the city crew wanted to get the owner of the van to move his vehicle in order for him to get the big branch. I would later go outside to head to church and decided to stop over to chat with the neighbor/owner of the van. As I got closer, I found out there was some serious damage to the vehicle (side and driver front-side windows gone or smashed w/glass window on the street; dents too!)....
Picture from my living room window facing south on E. 3rd St.

The neighbors (Jenny, Kim, and Sean-owner of the vehicle) told me that the city crew told them a heavy part of the tree landed smacked on top of the vehicle-just a block from here. I would later drive by it and notice the top of the vehicle was pushed down...
Took this on E. 1st St. going towards the corner of California Avenue.

Along my way to pick a friend from work for church, I took this other picture around town-West Side:

Along Wyoming Ave (around the corner of W. 5th/Hwy 28 going to Alberta)

I notice this tree down behind the parking lot of Federated Church on W. Columbia Ave.

Then on my way back home after dropping off my friend after church in the same side, I took this picture:

Storming through Morris Sun Tribune Published Wednesday, May 09, 2007
"No one was injured, but property damage was reported around the region from winds that reached 70 miles per hour in some locations last weekend.
City of Morris workers evaluate the task of removing a tree damaged by high winds early Sunday. A large section of the tree broke away and landed on a car owned by David Hamrum.

The Morris area did escape other problems, however. About an inch of rain fell in the area during the storm, but sections of Iowa and South Dakota took the brunt of the rainfall. Aberdeen, S.D., reportedly received about 10 inches of rain and many streets in the city were flooded."

"The east wind carries him off, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place."-
