  • "The Morris Kiwanis Club�s Annual Talent Contest will offer double the fun on Thursday.
    The June 12 program will feature two shows after the contest�s opening night program was postponed by weather.
    The first and second programs will performed on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a community supper at East Side Park. There is a fee for the supper, and the talent shows begin at 7 p.m.
    In the event of bad weather, the programs will be performed at the Morris Area Concert Hall.
    Winners of each evening�s contest will take home cash and the right to come back in July for the contest finals for bigger cash, as well as the opportunity to perform at the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Contest.
    The remaining shows are June 19 and June 26.
    Cash prizes for the rescheduled June 5 contest are $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for the third place finisher. All three receive the right to compete at the contest finals in July during Prairie Pioneer Days.
    First place winners for the June 12, June 19 and June 26 shows receive $50 and second place finishers receive $25. The third place finishers along with first and second place winners also receive the right to compete at the contest finals in July. The winners of the finals in July receive $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place.

  • "A jazz group called, "8th Position" took first place in the first week of the annual Kiwanis Talent Show, held Thursday, June 7 at East Side Park in Morris.
    Joseph Drown, an 8 year-old piano player, took second place.
    Third place went to Dave the Juggler. Dave didn't decide to enter until the event was nearly over.
    All three acts have earned the right to compete in the Talent Show finals, which will held July 13, as part of the annual Prairie Pioneer Days celebration in Morris.
    The Kiwanis Talent Show will be held at 7 p.m. each Thursday in June at East Side Park. "
