USA 1982 - Madonna und Jesus Ikone
           Diese Madonna und Jesus malte ich 1982 f�r die Griechisch Orthodoxe Kirche St.Nicholas in Newark N.J.

Madonna      1982 reiste ich mit Familie nach Amerika     und malte dort eine 4m gro�e Madonna     in der griech.orthodoxen Kirche     St.Nicholas in NEWARK N.J. und eine     zweite Ikone "Segnender Christus".      Der damalige Priester James A, Aloupis     erhielt zu einem Jubil�um ein von mir     gemaltes �lportrait.     Adresse der Kirche:     St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church     555 High Street     neu:   555 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd     NEWARK New Jersey 07102 USA     Tel.(201) 623-6211     Rev. damals James A. Aloupis, der der     Kirche einen neuen Namen gab: "Agapi"     zu deutsch "Liebe". Es war ihm sehr ernst     damit. Das Nummernschild seines      Wagens war "Love 1", und das des     Presidenten Nicos "Love 2".

The Priest of this church, father James A. Aloupis, received for his Anniversary also a Oelportrait painted by myself. Jesus Ikone am Eingang d.Kirche. Im Buch steht:  "Egv eimi h odoV; h alhqeia, kai h Zvh" "Ich bin der Weg, die Wahrheit und das Leben" Jesus Icone on the entrance of the Church. In the book is writen:  "I am the way, the truth and the life.	President der Kirche und ich - Zum Anbringen der 4m gro�en Madonna mu�ten 4 Mann gemeinsam das Ger�st hochsteigen. Beim ersten Ankleben hing die Ikone schief. Beim zweitenmal klappte es. The President of the church and me - It was difficult to attach the 4 meters large Madonna at the wall behind the altar. 4 man were needed therefore.

Die Madonna, auf Leinwand gemalt, wurde    ausgeschnitten und an die Wand hinter    dem Altar aufgeklebt.    W�hrend ich auf Wunsch der Kirche    noch die Wolken um die Madonna malte,    sa� die ganze Zeit �ber der Gesch�ftsf�hrer    der Kirche, Nikos Paras in einer Bank.    Auf meine Frage, ob alles in Ordnung sei    antwortete er mir nach langer Pause:    "Wei�t du, so wie jetzt die Madonna zu sehen     ist, sah ich sie in einem Traum".     Alle waren sehr gl�cklich, und sagten     ich h�tte ein Meisterwerk geschaffen. The Madonna   The picture, painted on canvas,   was cut out and glued on to the   wall behind the altar. After the work   was done Nicos the president of the   church told me: "you know, as the    Madonna looks now, the same way    I saw here in a dream".    Everybode were very lucky, and    said I would have created a    masterpiece.

 

The St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Newark N.J. USA is one of the first Greek Orthodox Churches in America, thats why Archbishop Jakovos came from New York and inaugurat the Madonna . At that time, after almost one year stay in USA, were we however  already again on the home journey to Crete.	Die Kirche ist eine der ersten griechisch-orthodoxen       Kirchen in Amerika und deshalb in allen Staaten bekannt,       weshalb auch der Erzbischof Jakovos aus New York kam       und die Madonna einweihte.       Zu dieser Zeit, nach fast einem Jahr Aufenthalt,  befanden wir       uns aber schon wieder auf der Heimreise nach Kreta.
