Three of these uncommon 32 seaters were the last new buses to be delivered to JMT in the old
green livery in 1968. The Seddon IV midi chassis is probably better remembered as the choice of
SELNEC PTE for their inter-station service in Manchester some years later, although the Pennine
bodies on the Jersey vehicles were similar to those on earlier batches of Bedfords and Albions.
The three digit fleetnumber of all additions to the JMT fleet in that decade consisted of the
year of acquisition and a number, and was incorporated into the registration.
J 7682 was notable as the first overall advertisement bus in the fleet,
or the thin end of the wedge as some see it, promoting Mary Ann beverages. It received this
dark blue paint after withdrawal from service in the 1980s when it was used for some years as a
towbus and was initially sold for preservation after retirement for these duties, seen here on
a sunny day in 1996 at the former Belle Vue pleasure park in St Brelade.
The pleasure park site has now been redeveloped as a housing village and all the various vehicles
that had appeared on the site had to be relocated.
