Weltha Jane White

  General Notes:

Weltha Jane had Aunt Sally that Mildred Evans Worthington went with her to visit who lived with Bill or June Ormond (her sons). One of them's son is Albert Ormond.

Jane Ellen Worthington Garner was named after Weltha and has her wedding ring with name and date inscribed in it.

I think Weltha Jane was married before to a man named Russell. He was a deputy sheriff who was killed. My mother (Mildred) told us to never start anything on Friday that you could not finish that day. She said Weltha had made a shirt for her husband that she started on a Friday. She didn't quite finish it and Russell was wearing it when he was killed.

Weltha married Joseph Theodore Cummings, son of James Benjamin Cummings and Matilda A. Singletary, on 12 Jul 1897. (Joseph Theodore Cummings was born on 24 May 1850, died on 15 Aug 1928 in Kinston, NC and was buried in 1928 in Maplewood Cemetery, Kinston, NC.)
