Just 2 hours from Mexico City, under the Cacahuamilpa grottoes, the Chontalcoatlan and San Jeronimo rivers resurface from their 6 Km underground caves. Here starts the Amacuzac River. This is one of the most beautiful and exciting water adventures in the heart of the country. The section known as the Higher Amacuzac offers class II & III rapids, while the Lower Amacuzac is a series of 21 almost continuous class III/IV rapids, up to its convergence with the Yautepec, where we stop for a snack in front of an impressive class VI rapid. All the way the river runs through beautiful jungle-covered virgin canyons.

Amacuzac River & Taxco, Guerrero
A 4 hours long adventure on rafts or kayaks through the Higher Amacuzac Canyon, from the Cacahuamilpa show caves to the Amacuzac town, with a stop on the way to swim and take a light lunch.
The tour can start from Mexico City or Taxco, from where our vans take us to Cacahuamilpa. There we'll board the rafts that will take us through the Higher Amacuzac canyon. During the afternoon, we'll visit some of the most beautiful lanscapes in the state of Guerrero, where you can rappel next to a waterfall or just relax and enjoy the view.
Our vans then take us to the Posada de La Mision, the best 5 star hotel in Taxco. After dinner, we'll take a walk around the colonial Taxco downtown with our exclusive "Burro Bar": a fully equipped bar on four hooves, with a regional music band following us.
On the second day, after breakfast, it's back to the river, this time to the more exciting Lower Amacuzac, navigating 20 class III & IV rapids, and stopping for a snack in front of an impressive class VI whitewater monster. At the end of the way, at the Xicatlan Bridge, our vans wait to take us home.

Amacuzac River & Zacatecolotla cave, Guerrero
From there, we go to nearby Zacatecolotla cave, and start our descent in the afternoon. We set up camp on the shore of an underground pond, and spend the night. You can't compare a night down here with anything else, the total darkness & quiet of a cave are almost impossible in the outside world.
The next day, after breakfast, we set out to explore a secondary tunnel, behind an underground waterfall, covered with crystaline formations and following a creek through an interminable series of ponds and small waterfalls. After lunch we calmly start the ascent, back into daylight, where the vans wait to take us home.
Two day adventure $ 210.00 USD P/P, camping the night in the cave. This option allows us more time to explore and enjoy the place.
