Karen F. Ellingson has been practicing immigration law since 1985. She is fluent in Spanish. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1983, cum laude.
From 1985 to 2003, Karen worked in the non-profit sector, first at Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, where she was managing attorney and then at Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, where she served as Executive Director for a number of years.
In 2003, Karen opened her solo practice law firm in West St. Paul, MN.
Karen was also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1995 to 2005. Under her direction, law students handled asylum cases for clients who had fled their home countries seeking safety in the United States.
Karen is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a volunteer attorney with the Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights.
Karen has been honored with numerous awards and is a frequent speaker and trainer in the area of immigration law. |
