Description

Lout is a batch document formatting application by Jeffrey Kingston; it targets PostScript with partial PDF support. The official home page is: http://www.ptc.spbu.ru/~uwe/lout/lout.html and the SourceForge page is http://sourceforge.net/projects/lout/.

I have ported Lout 3.28 to DJGPP and Win32. The ported binary distributions are ready-to-run. The DJGPP distribution is pakke-compliant and can be installed automatically with pakke >= 0.2.3 (dsm 0.6.1 compliant.) The latest Win32 distribution is version 3.29, built for >= i486 and is distributed as a tar.gz archive. I have also written a lexer for syntax highlighting and folding Lout source code for the Scintilla edit control (or SciTE editor).

Note: The Win32 Lout port has a slightly different link target movement behaviour from Jeffrey Kingston's canonical version. I have added some code to generate a target position, allowing the viewer to arrive at a point that is closer to the destination. Generally, your PDF browing experience should improve. For the Win32 binaries (about 1.5MB binaries and libraries, PDF documentation another 1.5MB), please use the usual SourceForge download services: http://sourceforge.net/projects/lout/.

For the DJGPP distribution (about 1.2MB for the binaries), please use a mirror instead of downloading from DJ Delorie's DJGPP home page, to reduce server load.

If you have trouble with the archives, consider using 7-Zip, an LGPL'ed archiver.
