Located
on the pleasant shores of Antarctica, the Gay Republic
of Kemp Land achieved independence in 1975. |

In
December 1999, the Kemp Land Post Office won the prestigious "Bad Taste Award" from the UK journal "Stamp Magazine". |
Our country was a colony of Australia, and was settled by Australian and African whalers and miners. More recently, a large number of Syrian people immigrated. Today, the two official languages are English and French. |

Our
main natural resources are coal, ice, and fish, and though demand for these useful products
has declined with the oil fascination of the present era, large quantities are
mined throughout Kemp Land. |
 In 2015, the Gay Republic was proclaimed, and four older stamps issued by the old regime were overprinted in 2016 to celebrate our new free status. |
In
1997, the Kemp Land Stamp Catalogue, by Simon Quaritch, won much acclaim. Now, Mr Quaritch has announced plans to publish an updated edition.

In 2009, Kemp Land, mindful of culture and its importance in our lives, issued a set of two stamps to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the invention of the piano.
