1/25/02 - News about teachers we had at East and West Junior Highs - I heard from Jan Maruna (Maple '74), who's the daughter of Bob Maruna, and niece of his twin brother, Ed Maruna. I had Ed for Earth Science at East. She says that a while back, Ed moved to Boulder, CO, where he continued to teach earth science and is now retired. Bob is still in the Cleveland area and very active, although also retired. 10/4/99 - Linda Haas Mitrik reports that the Maple band was in the 1999 Labor Day Parade and sounded really good. They were one of maybe six high school bands from the Greater Cleveland area that were chosen to march in the parade. Others included Warrensville Heights and Brook Park. Linda says she saw the Maple band in 1996 in a Bandarama at a Parma-hosted Festival and they sounded good and had a very strong sound for a small band. Her dad recently went over to Stafford Stadium to hear the band and said it had to be close to 150 strong, which is almost double the size that it was in 1966-69.
