History

Liverpool win the Championship for the 12th time.

Nottingham Forest become the second English club to retain the European Cup. They also become the first club to play in three consecutive League Cup finals.

Arsenal become the first club since 1888 and 1886 to play in three consecutive FA Cup finals. West Ham United win the FA Cup becoming the third Second Division club to do so since 1973 and 1976. This was the third all-London FA Cup final.

After their FA Cup final defeat, Arsenal lose the Cup Winners Cup final on penalties.
