48. CALEB CULVER was born 13 Aug 1754 in Wallingford, New Haven, CT, USA. He died 1803 in Seneca, Ontario, NY, USA. CALEB married MARY (CULVER) on CIR 1779. [Parents]

Caleb was a fence viewer in 1793 in Seneca. When he died in 1803, his estate
was administrated by Fones Rice, "his son-in-law." He was in the 1800 census
in Seneca but not in the 1790 or 1810. We know one of Caleb's daughters was
Sophia and one Polly but which one was married to Fones Rice is not yet
proven. Caleb's brother went to Aurelius, NY (Daniel). It may be Caleb went
also? The John Culver Descendants book states Caleb went to Wells, VT and
later Lennox, Mass. Children Sophia, Polly

49. MARY (CULVER) was born 1760. She died 2 Feb 1808 in Seneca, Ontario, NY, USA.

When Mary died in 1808, Fones Rice also administered her estate. A one line
obituary appeared in the local newspaper in Seneca. It must be assumed that
Caleb and Mary had at least one other child, a daughter, that married Fones
Rice although we do not have confirmation on this as yet.

The Sutliffe Genealogy discription of Deacon Jonathan Reynolds: Deacon
Jonathan Reynolds had mild blue eyes, sandy hair, which he wore in a queue,
braided and done up in an eel skin after the fashion of the times. His front
hair was always in a bang, never parted. His queue was cut off in middle age
at the time when wearing them was abandoned. He was quite fond of dress and
wore a frilled linen shirt in the old fashion. He was nervous and quick
tempered, but very kind of disposition.
Although brought up an Episcopalian, he was Deacon in a Congregational
Church. He was a very fine penman, some of his writing looking like
copper-plate. He was a general favorite in the community and acted as
peacemaker and adjuster of little differences. He was a most observing
naturalist and trapper, familiar with the habits of game and insects, and
especially expertr in snaring pigeons. He was a wonderful whistler and had a
powerful and penetrating voice in calling long distances. He played several
instruments, including a flute, and was able to transpose and arrange music
for the band.
