The American Chinchilla, with their medium-length, subtly curved, stocky bodies, are judged more on their body type than their color, since they are a commercial rabbit. Their coats do not need frequent grooming. American Chinchillas make grunting noises when they play, much like a pig's Chinchillas originated in France. They were first imported into the USA in 1919. The American Chinchilla was bred from a Standard Chinchilla. It carries the same body type, but it's heavier and meatier. American Chinchillas were originally called Heavyweight Chinchillas. |
