The heat of the summer is stifling if in the city you do stay,
But no, not we, for our family did to Jordan Pond go.
Good food, cool it was, and there was the pond,
A place where many a love began.

The water ran clean, the bridge so neat,
As Miss Wood I did meet,
Both of us had for a walk gone,
And by chance, it did rain.

So under the bridge at Jordan Pond,
That is where I did fall in love.
That is where I met my mate,
Met my future wife, there in the rain.

So now every year...what is it thirty now,
We have always gone back,
Gone back, walked, and our love rekindled,
As the rest of the world has undoubtedly changed.

My walk is a shuffle, my eyes grow dim,
As once more back we do go.
So lord, oh please, please indeed,
Take my love to the bridge at Jordan Pond
