3rd Highest Colorado, highest point in Chaffee County, CA

Route: Frenchman Creek/Mt Harvard Trail
Summit Elevation: 14,427 feet
Trailhead Elevation: 8,800 feet (The highest point along Forest Road 386 that we could before needing 4-wheel drive)
Elevation Gain: 5,700 feet
Round-trip Length: 7.5 miles up (14.3 miles total because we hitched a ride for the last 0.7 miles down)
Difficulty: Class 1 up to 12,000 feet until we lost the trail, Class 2 across steep slopes and tundra to 14,000 feet, some Class 3 scrambling over/around boulders above 14,000 feet on the summit block (Click here for discussion of Class System)

About the Author

I am currently a student at University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), where I intend to get a degree in Political Science and Geography/Environmental Studies. When I'm not studying, you will find me in the mountains. I have been climbing since I was pretty little and have done climbs throughout California, Colorado and Arizona, including the highpoints of those states. I have done Mount Whitney and Mount Elbert, but I plan on doing some even higher mountains, maybe Aconcagua, Mount Mckinley or Kilimanjaro, Check back with me in about 10 years.
