New York Towns

New York Towns

New York is made up of 62 counties.
Each county is composed of "TOWNS," and in some instances CITIES.
New York's towns are neither "VILLAGES," which are separate incorporated political unit always contained within towns, or "hamlets," which are unincorporated concentrations of population, also within towns.
Vital records in New York are filed with either the "Town Clerk," "City Clerk," or "Village Clerk," depending on the location of the event.
