3rd station: Kanagawa

History
It is said that Hiroshige's Kanagawa shuku or Kanagawa inns was very close to its real view. There used to be lots of chaya or teahouses along Tokaido. Customers at teahouses could enjoy nice view of the ocean from the porch. Kanagawa had changed greatly since it opened a port at the end of the Edo era, and the district became a residential area.
